I know this has been asked before, but I still have some questions that I haven’t been able to find by searching. My stock amp is blown, or shorted out somewhere. I can’t figure it out. I installed a new HU using the metra kit thinking it was the problem and it works fine but there is still no audio. I am able to hear hiss/pop from the speakers indicating that the amp is turning on but there is no audio. (I have the low level outputs wired to the speaker wires going into the bose amp)

Instead of replacing the amp I would like to run the speakers directly off the HU. I would imagine I could splice the input speaker wires wires from the amp into the output speaker wires and be done, but From my reading hear I have gathered that:

There are 3 amps in the car. Will the front speakers with the extra amp be over powered since the HU and the amp will be there?

How does the center channel and tweeters work since my HU only has 4 speaker outputs?

The speakers are strange OHM rating’s since it’s bose. Will my HU (kenwood 7120) handle this?

Does anyone know where I can find the diagram for the stock bose AMP? I know it’s on here somewhere since I have seen it, but I can’t find it! And yes I have seen the sticky!

Would this be easier to just replace the stock amp? Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

If you replace the Bose amp, you will also need to replace the front door woofers as they are 0.5 ohms and no aftermarket amp or deck will withstand impedances like that for very long.

Your best sounding result would be to put in an aftermarket amp, using the low level outputs from your aftermarket head unit. Then replace the cabin speakers with aftermarkets. You only really need to do the door speakers, but you may as well replace them all as they always sound muddy and without the Bose amp EQ curve they sound like crap too. This is what I'd do.

The least work option would be to replace the Bose amp, but it's spending money that won't get you better audio quality.

Thanks for the advice. At least I know where I stand now.

I found a bose amp for $100 on ebay. Does that seem good deal? At least to get me buy until I can afford to do a full replacement...

Um stop now. Why spend money on ebay when the local shops need your business, notice the economy is tanking??? Next spend that money on a set of front and rear speakers and rewire them to the new headunit. Solves the problem and allows you a easy amp upgrade later on. Notice I said REWIRE the speakers, DO NOT try tapping into the existing wires.
