Help with wiring and custom switches

Hi, I was hoping some one could point me in the direction of a previous thread or help me themselves. I've searched too... Well I'm planning on putting some toggle switches where the ashtray is in order to control the footwell LEDS. I just want to start with the footwell LEDS but will move onto adding underbody neons and etc. So if anyone can tell me how to wire the footwell LEDS (rx8strakes.com) to the ashtray area in order to use toggle switches for on and off functions that would be great. Thank you very much fellow RX8club members.

since you're using the ashtray might as well use the cigarette lighter wires for power. there isnt really any need for a thread or how to since it's just splice wire to wire and you're done.

Follow the install instructions for the footwell kit, only wire a switch into the circuit, and instead of tapping the courtesy lights, tap into a 12V source.

If you wanted to get really fancy, you could use a relay wired to a distribution block, and then turn everything wired to the block on and off by the switch connected to the relay.

I used the free area in the stereo for my interior and exterior led switches. It is the plate that covers the Tape/MD area.

I also just used a 12v plug to power the LEDs. It was like $3 @ pepboys. Plus I always have the ashtray closed, so you can't see the plug.

I followed this DIY: Custom Switched

ya but I plan on using the ashtray area for where the switches will go. so that way they're easily visible and easily accessible from shifter.
