They rock the house. But are going to weigh almost exactly 26 lbs with sub. (Just weighed mine) Still need an amp and must mount the amp somewhere. Yes. It will sound much better than any bazooka tube. But will cost literally 5 times as much.

Well, true, but you do get what you pay for! Also, I don't see how anyone worried about weight can consider any amp/subwoofer, but to each their own. I'm sure my car is heavy for a RX 8, but I drive it for pleasure and don't really care about a few extra pounds.

FIRE: thanks man... just the answer i've been looking for. and that is most likely what i had in mind of considering. all i really wanted was something that can compliment the stock system and easy as pie to remove. so this will be the perfect mod as i don't really like having a messy car.
and as for the power, a hundred watts all bass is good enough for me. honestly, thats what i was shooting for, and it happens to have the best weight of all 3. i hope it is also the most cost effective approach.

and as for a couple of post earlier... i honestly can enjoy heart-stopping bass, its really massging, but i'm not like in my early 20s anymore. but its not like i hate bass...i've done it. now i would just like to enjoy it in moderation. and if i'm like ****** 60(sorry, pottymouth) this would even be extreme.
but i get what u mean.

You will be require to run a small power wire from the battery, through the fire wall and into the trunk. (As with any amp) Circuit City has cheap 8 and 10 gauge wiring kits for like $30-$35. Or Wal-Mart even. You're not adding anything huge, so just about any kit will be fine. We have walk-throughs in the stickied threads on how to do it.

The 8" 100W tube weighs 14lbs and the 10" 100W tube weighs 24lbs. The 8" 200W tube weighs 20lbs and the 10" 200W tube weighs 25lbs.

EDIT: Oh and as for tapping into the rear speaker wires, I'm not sure. I've installed 10-15 of these and used a line output converter every time. I will note, however, that the tubes DO come with connection for high-level inputs (speaker leads). So it IS possible to just splice it in.... donno what kind of results you would get though. Also, I tapped into the wires just BEFORE the Bose amp. Very easy and great results. However, I have read of people on here tapping after the amp with good results as well. So.... just telling you what I know.

^^HTCR: i know this post almost seems retarded. thats why i put "just a smidge more bass" and not "please help, want MORE bass".

i don't want an amp, a heavy sub box, or huge 10" sub with a big magnet on the back...

so i think firebird was really helpful in detailing what options i can go for. and i want the system to be easily removeable, and the lightest addition to compliment the stock system...see, here's the thing, i like the stock system BUT i wish it had a lil more bass...say like an extra 100-150watts more bass.
i did not consider tossing my stereo out for pure race car... but wanted a dual purpose for some track time. and i had bad experience with the old car which had the full amp/box/sub pkg...and it was a headache when it came around to some autocrossing. especially when the car needed to be tech'd in order to run.
not only that... the constant removal has damaged the sub and blew out the silicone foam... not pretty to say the least.

sooo..... figure this is the perfect solution. and one i'll try out thats also not overspending for extra power i won't need or use.
