Woohoo!

Will this be motorized or manual (if manual, one of those spring loaded open?) ?

Will this cost $1,000 or more like under $500 (just a ballpark figure)?

Can't wait to see it.

BTW... that gauge pod is the hottest one I've seen yet!

Any chances on a design that doesn't include the original screen housing?

Manual ... and not spring-loaded ... just adds complexity and cost.

Well under $500 is the plan.

Can't wait to see it.

I can't wait either ... and thanks for the comments on the pod.

I presume you mean a custom housing for a specific model of screen. I think there would need to be significant interest in a specific screen to justify the development. Getting that kind of consensus would be difficult for starters. Then there is the cost of assembling, void of screen warranty, etc. ... too much hassle and too costly in my opinion. Beside ... most folks "I think" want the flexibility to use different models and ability to get the unit serviced if necessary.

I'm just trying to provide folks a low-cost housing that will hold a screen and hide it when not in use all the while making it "look" OEM for the most part.

I'm really curious how will you do the opening mechanism and keeping it open without rattling and vibrating. Spring-loaded (and dampened) would make sense to me but I see how it would increase the complexity.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see

No need for hints... I know that.
I already have two of his products and couldn't be happier with them.

Understandable. I just thought that the ability to use open frame LCD panels would also be good. mp3car.com store is supposedly working on getting a transflective screen. Word is that it'll be open frame and run something like $600... but from the pics and comments... it is very daytime readable. You can find more in it here... http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=77276

Hey derwankel, are those gauge pods/cups purchased or made from scratch. I'm looking for a gauge pod similar to, if not exactly like those.

Thanks,
Kevin

That looks awesome, I'd really be up for getting one of those since I'm planning to go FI once PR gets their supercharger out.

Has anyone done the reseach and found who has the best prices on the Nexus gauges?
When he is finished with the pod maybe a group buy on the gauges!

I have spoken with AutoMeter (infact they supplied guages for the prototype development) ... they have put me in touch with a major vendor of theirs and a group buy offering is a distinct possibility.

The 60s just do not lend themselves well to the individual angled pods ... there are others out there offering solutions for the 60s.
