Teheeh.. Hey Scott!!
Yeah man... after the Dragon last year I have had a major clean up at the Bar. Just been real busy with it & Family stuff. I do hope to head down to W.Palm (Your way) in April for the Pettit blower install... I am getting ready to purchase a set of Autometer Nexus guages... but need a nice little home to drop them in. The RB Ash-Tray mount just don't get it done for me. May as well put them in the center consol in the back!!! LOL...
I realy want a Center Dash 3 Pod with Mid Speaker cutout and a 2-3 Pod "A" Pillar setup too.

a. Module Sensor
1. Boost/Vac
2. Oil Pressure
3. Oil Temperature

4. Water Temperature
5. Pyrometer EGT
6. Wideband Air/Fuel

I am aware of their unit..., but it is a "Press-ON" jobber and without lots of photos to sell me on it, I won't bite. Even at the real good price they offer. I am looking for something like Derwankel was working on and I saw at the Dragon meet last year. His joint was on point. Matched well, looked excellent from all angles and was top-notch quality as all his projects were.
Mandot's joint looked very promising and a really good price too. And with all due respect, I ain't gonna shell out 0 beans for an ashtray mounted system.
I think I will call John and try to find out who purchased his Masters...
Thanks for the thought though... I am sure someone knows of a quality unit that is not over-priced!

the Lotek is qualitly, check out the Lotek thread. I have on and it matches (to my eye) the OEM panel 99%. Some people say it doesn't have the texture right, but what they don't realize is the texture on the dash top is different that the texture of the rest of the dash plastic, like the glove box. If you look, the glove box top is a thicker grain, kind of like leather, while the dash top is a soft, finer grain with smaller dimples. Not to mention there are those two smooth black lines that run the length of the dash top, so no one will even know what the original OEM texture or look even was.

As for 60mm, sorry. ProSport sells stepped 60mm gauges in a 52mm case.

Everything is relative to me... I hear what you are saying ChickenWafer, but I am not "Seeing" what you are saying. As I understand it, you have the 1st prototype unit of Lotek... Can ya install it (Gauges included or not) and take about 9 images of it in normal daylight lighting. Images from driver view, high driver view, passenger view, high passenger view, inside center view, outside driver side, outside center, outside passenger side.
If not my buddy jskup1 has ordered one and I will wait to see his. I mean the price is great and I do not mind butchering up my center unit to fit it. I just don't want to install the unit only to hate it.
I know I sound a bit prissy about this... but I have seen some other "Lee Press-on" units on several other makes of ride and quite frankly they looked very ghetto.
Thanks though...

If you are referring to Der's Gauge Pod, then no, he did not pursue production as he sold his 8 and is spending time with his family.

sorry for the late responce, totally forgot about this thread!

Well, I thought I had a first prototype, but the guy making the pod from Lotek who I was in communication with loved the pod so much he just went ahead and sent it off to the factory for production.
There are actually a few people in the Lotek thread now that have it installed with gauges. 1stgen is one and howardteets is another. There are a bunch of good pics in there. ProSport gauges seem to match the 8's interoir perfectly too.
This is what I think of the Lotek pod; you could tell someone you paid $200 for it (even an RX8 enthusiast) and they would believe you. When I tell people I paid $60 for this pod, no one believes me (at least when the see it in person). The grain is a 99% match to my eye. I love the way to gauges are "dropped down" into the dash unit itself. It looks practically OEM. I bet you could tell people it's a factory Mazda option and they would believe you.
I'm not a big fan of having to cut the stock dash piece, but it isn't difficult. A direct swap would be better, so you can go back to having no gauges if you want I guess. But you can always purchase a new dash top piece- they cost roughly $88 bucks. So, you can look at it this way: you get two dash pieces (the stock one you already have for your pod and a new replacement) for only $150 bucks or less. That way you can put the new panel on if you want to remove your gauges, going back to stock, etc.
I want to stress that I'm not nor have I received any money or anything from Lotek, I'm just the guy who got the ball rollin'. So I really don't care what pod you get or what you do reguarding gauges, but I just thought I would help out fellow RX8'ers and turn them on to this pod.

On a side note, it's actually pretty funny that the price of this pod is what's holding everybody back! People are skepitcal because it's so cheap. I get that. But I just think it's funny because if Lotek decided to bump the price to say, $120, maybe people would have less reservations about it? Because doubling the price would make people think it's better qualitly. Kind of funny.
For all the doubters tho, just do some research on Lotek Inc. www.gaugepods.com is their website. Google them and find out about them. They are well respected in the automotive community and have an excellent reputation. They aren't some knock-off brand. It's made in the USA 100%- designed and built here. I wouldn't have gone to some crappy brand and get them to make a pod I knew would be shitty. That's just dumb. And so far, everyone that has the Lotek pod loves it.

So that's it in a nutshell. I don't want to hijack this thread but derwankel isn't making this pod and the guy from Singapore is having to redo it and, quite frankly, I would be worried about the qualitly, plus he wants over $150 for his pod plus $60 for shipping. His shipping alone is as much as the Lotek unit.
Really, there are only two pods Left-hand drivers can get; the Lotek pod and the Racing Beat pod that stuffs gauges in your ashtray, which is pointless to me. You can't see them while driving at all. And, the RB pod (sans gauges even) cost more! I got my Lotek pod, gauge adaptor, and all three 52mm electrionic, full-sweep peak/warning gauges for a total of $404.73 with shipping; less than the RB pod W/gauges, and it includes mechanical non peak/warning gauges that I'm not such a fan of.

But again, do whatever you want. It's just too bad we don't have too many options for LHD.

That Auto EXE gauge pod looks pretty good. Similar to Mazdaspeeds. Approximately $235USD. Will this fit further forward (if you don't have navigation)? What size gauges?

it says 60 MM gauges on the site. Also says it is unpainted fiberglass. It looks good, but kinda pricey. and probably a 6 month wait behind it, and who knows what on taxes, and import fees and such.
