i think it's a good idea. some ppl have kids and sometimes you might close it and not realize something is blocking the path and this way nothing gets broken. my bmw moonroof has this feature- ie if any object is obstructing the path of it closing, it senses it and re-opens as a fail safe. ie kinda like a kid-safe garage door. :)

Then you should get one from RR for your 8. That way we'll only need 1 more person.

how exactly is the fail safe working? you added a sensor? if so that would get expensiveeee.. and i'd just take one without the fail safe.

It's current sensing. Anyway, I still wouldn't want to get my finger caught in it. Just like I wouldn't want to stick my hand out my Lexus' auto up windows. If someone is honestly worried about getting injured, don't buy it. I take no responsibility if someone gets hurt.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Today, I checked the auto close sunroof in my Infinity. The Infinity's sunroof will stop and auto reverse automatically with something as sensitive as a finger obstructing its path.

My circuit is not that sensitive. It will stop if you get your fist or arm stick in its path, but I'm pretty sure it would still seriously hurt your finger. Also, it doesn't automatically reverse. For this reason, I will keep what minor protection I have already developed, but I cannot state that it has a failsafe feature.

Please update the list if you no longer want to be included in the initial group buy.

I still want that sucker! I don't stick things up out of my sunroof and if any of my friends are dumb enough to do it then they deserve it.
