Footwell Lights Install/Wiring Diagram?

When she said they didn't work I went to giver her a hand. Even connected directly to a power source they wouldn't work...I will be on stand by for the next attempt if you like, but you did the wiring perfecrt! :D

Ok, here's what I did:
2 Red led's & 2 Blue, (they are clusters of 6 led’s molded into a plastic case)
Blue lights up when headlights/fog switch is used. Looks great!
Red? For the life of me I can find a wire that will let them lit up when opening the door!
Tried almost anything, either they stay lit when the door is closed or don't work at all.
Ideas anyone?

They are located in MO, had them in a day....
And they are bright!
Mounted them with Velcro.
