Factory Speakers / No Sound / Need Help
I have read similar problems on other posts however there has been no solution, only speculations. Below is the scenario that is happening with the car.
My center speaker started to crackle/pop one day. Didn't really think to much of it at the time. Started the car up again and all front speakers wouldn't work at all (besides an intermittant pop here and there). The rear speakers were fine. After a while of dealing with this the all speakers stopped working. I still hear occasional pops/crackles from them, but no music or sound. The radio itself is working fine. No issues with the head unit, reads cd's tapes etc.
One thread suggested that the capacitor in the radio is running low on juice. Bull****. I have a brand new battery and the alternator is fine. Debunked.
Another suggested a loose conenction to the center speaker. That's all well and good, but if that was the case then the center speaker wouldn't work not all of them. Bull****.
Yet again another theory of a blown fuse. Checked the ones under the steering wheel and it is fine. If it was a blown fuse then the head unit wouldn't turn on so that can't be it either.
My only conclusion I can think of is a loose ground wire. Does anyone know where the factory amp is grounded to so I can check it? Any other suggestions would be awesome too. If you had this problem, please respond to how you fixed it.
Problem number 8000 for me and the RX-8. Gonna light this bitch on fire or have a crack head steal it for insurance money real soon.

Thanks for the reply. I know it is there.. but before I go looking for the ground wire and ripping stuff apart I want a general idea on what side/location it is grounded at.

I'd use a tone generator on both the amp's inputs and outputs while the radio is playing. If put it on a speaker input to the amp, and get a tone out, then your headunit is not sending signal to the amp. If you put the tone generator to a speaker output on the amp, and get a tone out, then the amp is not outputting anything. Also test the power/trigger wires with a DMM.
Just saying. I'd do a little testing before tearing the car apart/spending money.

Check that the plugs in the rear amp are firmly seated and not vibrated out.
The rear amp controls the rear speakers and the front centre, the front centre is paired with the rear left.
There is an amp in each front door for the 9" mid/bass, and the tweeters.
