Does anyone know of this sub box??

I saw a custom sub box about a week ago that I can't find anywhere!

They had their sub installed in the floor of their trunk where the drop part is. Ya know, the part near the opening of the trunk where it has a miniature hole/dip type thing? The subwoofer faces the sky and makes the trunk look awesome. If anyone knows about these boxes, I want one!

If not, how possible would it be to create a custom box where the "pullthrough" part in between the seats is? That would be so cool to have a 10" sub sitting between your passengers with a little grill over it for protection or something.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Zenor34

you can't fit a 10" sub in the pass through.

the dip in the trunk would probably need a shallow mount sub. the box has to be custom made.

...or you could make your whole trunk a box and mount a 15" sub. a couple people have done that on here.

check out the zenclosure box on ebay. its a custom fit and the best bang for your buck.

that seems like it would kill a large portion of your trunk space.
why not get some 4080 boxes instead?

it's called Moisture you retard. At night, this thing called 'dew' builds up on surfaces and when you lean up against them, that's what happens.

+1 on 4080 boxes. They rock.

an 8" in the center pass through probably won't thump very well unless you box it properly. It's not impossible but you'd need to put some thought into it to do it right.

Hey thanks for the feedback fellas... I do love the 4080 boxes, They just seem a tad steep on the price for a highschooler. I was hoping on the drop part, that it could be made of wood. (Therefore not nearly as expensive.) But I guess you get what you pay for.

Here are my plans...
-10" Alpine type x subwoofer
-Alpine pdx 1.1000 or Boss DD3600
-And whatever box

My goal is to have a nice crisp sound with a trunk that can still be accessed . Which is why I have decided not to purchase a zenclosure.

And a box in the center pass-through is any better?

How often you use the trunk anyway? I've owned my 8 over two years and think I've put stuff back there..... maybe twice? And even if you did use it more often, how many times do you need to access it while driving? I guess if you used it for fishing poles or skies or something like that.... but I doubt you'd want a sub box in the storage compartment either.

I use my trunk all the time. My car cover is back there, I put duffel bags there when I'm going on road trips (which is quite often)

I don't need a car with a trunk since I own an SUV but it's nice to know I can throw something back there if I need to.
I guess everyone has different needs though.

You could always get a Zenclosure box. It will take up more trunk space then a 4080, but it will sound good, it's a LOT cheaper since it's not a custom fiberglass job, and you'll still have access to some of your trunk, assuming you find a good place to hide the amp.

I believe you misunderstood me... I don't want my actual trunk space taken up (if possible) and one in the passthrough wouldn't take hardly any. I don't care about the passthrough at all. I just want most of my trunk still open and I'll be fine accessing it from the rear of the car.

The reason I want space is because my parents are split up and so I go to my dad's house every other weekend so I need space to put my shat. haha

I did misunderstand you. My apologies I guess.

When it comes to subwoofer enclosure size, the bigger the better. Larger boxes increase efficiency and provide better low frequency extension. I realize you want space, but it's gonna be a sacrifice regardless of what box you decide on. There's no way around that. You can't cram a 10" in a shoebox and expect performance. The Zen box is cheap, good quality, and makes use of the space it takes up pretty well.

Still plenty of room to put a weekend's worth of clothes. Or several WEEKS for that matter. I could probably fit a whole golf bag in there. Buy a large duffel bag and enjoy your music.

PS. That box with that amp rack cover, including plexi front is $130 on eBay.

Check the thread for pics and plans of the enclosure I built in the trunk well:

Yeah firebird... That doesn't look quite as bad as I had expected. Thanks for that post. If I bought a box from them that was just a single 10", would it still take all that space?

And Juice, That's exactly the kind of box I was looking for! The only problem is there's no way that my sub would fit inside that. Is it possible to make it bump up from the trunk floor?

JL audio makes "shadow boxes" of which you speak of....shallow sub, but hits pretty good. My cuzin has one in his S2k...

JEDIS BOXES ARE SUPER NICE, however its easier to put something long with the ZEN BOX (dual sub side by side) than it is to put into the middle back.....trust me I use to have a box that was a bicht to put it, so i ordered the ZEN box but single ten to the left side..the AMP is getting, mounted on the right.....my box should be here tomorrow.....and for the price difference its the way to go..

the zenclosure is the same size no matter what. you need that space with that sub anyways. you can get the cutout anywhere you ask the guy. here's my setup. i was the first one he did with a square sub. i still have plenty of room in the trunk for traveling.
