Dead Battery
Well,
I went out to the Garage today to turn over the RX-8, and the battery was pretty close to Zero. Even tried to hook it up and boost it, but no-love, I just couldn't get enough voltage to spin the starter fast enough. I tried about 8 or 9 times.. even waiting about a 1/2 hour with the jumpers connected and charging.
It's been about 5 weeks since I started the car last, and it seemed fine by all impressions when I got in (Lights normal brightness, chiming fine), with the exception that I noticed my time was wrong about 2 weeks ago (probably from low voltage)..
I've bought a battery charger and will be keeping it topped up for a while, I might suggest to anyone else who's garaging their car that they either pull the fuse from the + battery terminal, or keep their charger handy, since this just wasn't fun.
It's still charging now, and when I've got a full charge, I'm going to give it another shot, but for now, still not turning over..
I'd call the roadcare assistance #, but I'd rather I do it myself, rather than have the car towed to a dealer to charge it.
There were other threads about the complaints about the weak 60Ah battery in the US RX-8, and I can say, yup, I wish I had the 72 Ah battery that comes with the Canadian RX-8's...

Ok, after getting my battery all charged up, I kicked it over, and nothing.. Then, I'm thinking, crap, it's probably flooded from all those start attempts.
3 'flood clearing' cranks later (with the Gas pedal floored), and my Garage was quickly filling up with white smoke.
All is good now, but damn that smoke sure is crazy, and that battery doesn't have a whole lot of capacity

Wow, talk about digging up an old thread. Welcome to the boards.
I would say the best way around it would be to just disconnect it. When I had the stock battery in mine it would not last 2 weeks in the cold. I swapped it out with an Interstate Battery and now I just disconnect it when I store it.
