well as maybe half of everything made is on a day when your bored and want to start something new... well yesterday was that day i been wanting to try this out but never thought it would come out too too good but it did.

i never really use my cup holders in the front cause im used to having my ipod there 24/7 and also i like it closed to lay my arm so instead of leaving my ipod to get hot and be dangling around all the time i wanted something for it to lay in. i had some extra wood from a sub box i made a friend so i used that and here is the finished product it is able to hold my 80gb ipod with a case nice a snug and an ipod touch pretty well i didnt do a slot for headphone for the touch since i dont use it much other then my classic i wrapped it with leather since i didnt have a suede or something softer so it wont scratch my devices since i have found out it holds my dare perfectly also

of course i made it so i can take it out cause there is the time everyone is in my car and all my cup holders are needed i am thinking of selling it maybe so this is like a feeler type thing also since i think it came out pretty well for a first type deal any ideas to better it would be great too

Wow excellent idea, can u make it face the opposit way so that the charger side faces the front, cuz what I was thinking u can remove that small piece that's right by the headphone slot! Then u can drill a hold in it and run the adapter wire through there! P

Oh and get an rx-8 or mazda emblem cut out and silver stensile paint them to the middle of it!

hmm interesting i mean thats very simple to put the charger cord there i just had my headphone cord there cause i did the wire tap into the stereo and i did just like you said but with the 1/8th there instead but if you would like pm me im down for making another one as for the mazda label it is leather.... lol so idk on how i would go about making that part and would leather still be a good idea..... i believe its the simplest and softest and the leather i used came from my mom that works at dooney & burke lol so it was pretty soft

the idea sounds great but there really isnt much room in there to do that there is like less the an inch all the way around i think it would look to cramped you know

I never use the front cup holders either, and for the same reason lol. I keep my sunglasses in there and any small papers. Once I do my stereo install I plan on doing something similar in the ashtray, maybe a slide in connection for my ipod and iphone.

haha i never put anything but my ipod there i always have my arm resting on it i always leave my drink in the back two cup holders and if need be i can still take it off and put it in the glove box if i really really need to but it usually me and my girl so i dont need it usually
