I'm all in, cash in hand (or rather on the credit card). I've been watching this link too: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/gauging-interest-dash-insert-aftermarket-radio-140973/ so if I get the Corksport and then the other one comes thru, I'll just sell the Corksport later on.

I don't know if its an option here because this is an international forum, but with my local Racing Team, whenever we do events or group buys, we have a community PayPal account where we all send money to "buy in". Only after you've paid does your name go on the list. We only have 100 or so local forum members though so it's a lot easier to avoid issues. With the size of this forum, I don't know if it's possible here, but its an idea.
Verry good suggestion SirZyrion. That would make total sense, but I guess the next question people are worried that if someone has access to the community paypal account that might risk the chance of their money being stolen or something. I say we do get together and see how many people are actually serious in making sure that we get a big enough group so we actually get a discount worth wild i.e. 15-20% or even more depending on how many people we really get.

Firebirdude, I am not sure how many fell through, but from the way they sounded they were a little bitter about it and were really negligent of doing it again, but I honestly dont mind running the interference for the forum with the moderators approval for the group purchase. My main concern is for the people that are serious i.e. SirZyrion, Nuke0907, tj2k2002, and anyone else maybe wasting their time if others do not follow through.

If you guys are totally serious lets come up with a simple medium of payment and a date, then maybe I can coordinate with the moderator and then with the sales person from corsksport. Again Please provide input and seriousness because otherwise we are beating a dead horse and it's going to be a waste of time. I have seen successfull group buys range from 10%-25+% so maybe we can hit a high point and actually satisfy everyone's needs.

or you could just wait for a cheaper and better alternative that will be out in the coming months (possibly weeks from what I've heard)......a little birdie told me anyway.

Is this more of that Metra nonsense that you brought up awhile ago?

Canaryrx8, do you have any info on any other alternatives? I like to explore all my options before making any purchase.

yes please share canary.

i wonder if corksport would be able to collect the funds at a discounted rate and once all the orders have been placed then ship them out. if not enough people pay up then maybe we can just get a refund.

I am really looking at this product just because it already exists and I have seen good finished products come of it, but then again I am also open to all other options as well....

I saw we just get all the serious people and call corksport and see what we can work out, but it would be in our best interest to get more than like 3-5 people. Otherwise they will tell us some minimum number group purchases have to meet.

It's not nonsense, I've been in constant contact with them and we may even feature my car in their booth(s) next year at the shows I attend as SoundStream may be pulling out of some of those shows. (just a rumor, hopefully not)

I can't share what I've seen, but I have parts numbers for 2 kits (single and double din) and I've seen a pic of the dashpiece and it looks awesome. (No more hugemongous gaps on the l/r side)

I'll just say this much, if we didn't already custom make mine, this would be the one I get. Keep on calling it nonsense if you like, but if you knew what I knew you'd be feeling pretty stupid afterwards.

It was in jest. Just like that last we heard from you..... my anger for dumping $400+ on a possibly lesser kit which I could possibly get for $100.

I figured it was, just had to be a smart *** in return In all seriousness though, this kit is a REALITY and will be coming out soon, I don't know exactly when and even if I did I couldn't say anyway, but I do know what I saw was real and they'ev already got 2 parts numbers assigned to it

edit: actually I spoke with them earlier and as soon as they have a release date I can share it with everyone. (yay!)

Sorry I've been MIA. For some reason, my daily "Subscribed Threads" emails stopped, so I didn't get a reminder to check this thread.

There's a little bit more security in using Paypal because you can dispute the purchase if anything goes wrong. I'd offer my business account, but I'm too far removed from the source of this, and I haven't been posting here long enough to really build up the rapport.

At any rate, I'm still watching this intently and saving money, but to be fair and up front with all of you interested in this group buy, I'm watching the Metra option also.
