The PAC SWI-X is wireless. In order for it to use the wired remote feature on the back of your particular headunit, you'd have to buy the module for your specific brand headunit. Example: Pioneer or Sony headunit = PAC SWI-PS

It may or may not, they weren't able to test the kit on a european model (yet, it's coming eventually either way) so their official stance is it will not work. Since they haven't tested it there's no way to say, it could work without issue for all we know, but there's no way to tell until it gets tested on a non- US car. Their focus is on the US market with this first round, then they'll probably start working it out for the European models once they've established the US kits etc., they're going to have to work something out eventually anyway since the US 09's have similar climate control systems as the previous European models.

Talked to the Metra rep and this kit will not work with the Auto climate controls.
So overseas models are out of this deal as are the models in the US that have the Auto controls.

They said they may look at it later but since they do not expect this to be a big money spinner not to hold my breath waiting for one.

That's not what I was told, I was told they'll be available eventually for the auto climate if this one doesn't work for whatever reason, and I heard this straight from one of the engineers who developed the kit we'll be seeing soon. I wouldn't give up hope on a non-US version yet, it's probably just going to take some time to sort it out once the US kits are out etc. In the meantime, just hang in there, those guys are really pushing to get this thing out soon (along with several other new products) so if they haven't contacted you yet, it's not a bad sign, it's just they're insanely busy and haven't had time, my emails usually take days to go back and forth with them so I wouldn't sweat it.

I just noticed something...

http://www.metraonline.com/products.aspx?s=7510

What does "Software is USB updateable for application additions and/or technology improvements" mean?

My best guess would be it's some type of firmware capability? I haven't really pursued any info. on that feature, perhaps later today I'll shoot oever a quick note to the Metra dude and see what he says.

Edit: edited first post

maybe this will be the route by which metra will be able to add auto climate control support. In reality the auto climate control can't be that much more complicated than the non auto. It probably just has a PID controller in it or some such. That could easily be emulated in software, especially if they're using a fpga for their chip inside the turbo2 device. The high cost of these HVAC control system replacements for cars like ours is probably one indicator that they are using fpga's. Not to get up hopes or anything, but one can hope.

Since the "brain" is an axxess box, the USB updatable thing is probably for that. I have an axxess box thing that lets me use XM and Ipod with text display in the factory radio and it has the same "usb" functionality but you need to be a dealer to use it I believe.

Nice price as long as it is around the 200 mark or less then i am going to get this. Im just curious of what corksport is going to do to keep up with the competition.

My source said it wasn't shipping until the end of the month, so I'm not sure why it would be showing up already, I did notice it's not on Crutchfield's site yet, and a few larger vendors aren't showing it yet so it's interesting to see one site already listing it.

About the corksport kit, y'all need to remember that it's not really a "Corksport kit", it's a Kanatech kit from Japan and Corksport carries it, as far as what they're going to do to compete that's anyone's guess, but it's going to be next to impossible to match the availability and price of a huge domestic company with one from a smaller company based out of Japan so maybe they'll start carrying the Metra or something, or maybe some of the folks out there who don't do the proper research will end up buying the Kanatech still as they're ignorant of this kit etc.
