Definition of rice along with stock Civic with 4" exhaust for me. Don't like em, never got the point. Why light up the ground, and if you do, why do it with an ugly color :P

To pull it off you really have to have ground effects and be lowered, which hides the bulbs and the rest of the underbody, and only shows the glow on the pavement.
They look like **** when you put them on a car that sits off the ground more than about 3 inches, or on a car with curved rockers and bumpers that reveal the underbody and lights directly.

Externals are illegal here in my state, you can have them installed, but can not use them while driving!...
But NO, I don't think they are "Childish", as long as they are done correctly and discrete..why not, it is YOUR car as Laythor said.

I think neons can look cool if on the right looking car.
With that being said, the neons will be prone to attracting negative attention, and also facing plenty of criticism (like on this thread ).

Not a fan of them myself, but they definitely aren't THAT bad... If I had to drive an 8 with underglow or an 8 with spinners, I would definitely be driving with neon under me. And be happy about it haha

I have seen them on yellow monster trucks in south Florida.
It all depends. For instance, if someone has a black rx8 with green lightning bolts painted on the side doors, it is necessary to complete the look with neons and such.
Just a phase, lot of people go through it.

I don't think they're awful, as long as they're not awfully done. (which can probably be said for just about any mod really)
I have LED'S all over my freakin' car, inside, outside, under the hood etc. but they're done tastefully (in other words, they're concealed, wires hidden, all you see is the glow for the most part) and with a purpose/theme behind them, hell, I even have fiber optic lighting in my trunk but it's very subtle. I don't drive around with the underbody on, the way it is set it up is it can only be turned on while the car is parked for shows etc. I received a ton of it for next to free during my Sema build so it was put in to help promote a company at the show. (Varad led's)
2 things to consider really, it's your car, do whatever you want.
1.NOBODY USES NEON ANYMORE, they use led's, drives me crazy when people are like "you got a car full of neons...."...um..no, I have a car ful of led's, and 90% of what you see nowadays is led, neon is fragile, hard to work with, expensive, then you have transformers/electrical you have to deal with, it's a nightmare compared to led lighting that can run off basically next to nothing, my display stands that house my stanchions at shows have led's underwater using a small 12v alarm remote battery, never could do that with neon.
2. Just about anything can look okay if done well, lighting included, again, it's your ride, have fun with it, do what you want, don't let other people justify your mods, ever.
One other thing, a lot of people were doing things long before fast and the furious, (and they'll do them after of course too) and the cars in that movie were done for a movie, so they're not really good guidelines for comparison of anything, ever. I mean, just look at what they did to an Rx-8? Would anyone mod their 8 the way it was done in that movie? I mean, really? The Evo (well, Lancer anyway) they had was God awful, none of the cars in that movie have decent wheels or any type of a stance or anything. In my opinion those movies should be taken at face value and for entertainment only, nothing more than that.

Living is best Modified.
Everything on a car can be modded to be made tactful, tastful and otherwise improve the look of the car.
For example, Paint jobs on cars can be easily made to look like someone sprayed the car with spray paint, in humid weather. It'll suck. But if you add a paint job that's fit the style of the body panels... then well, you've got a design that improves the car looks.
Slapping on stickers everywhere just doesn't work.
Neons, likewise can be used just as well.
I agree that neons, by themselves, are just a pain in the ****. LEDs gives the flexibility, shock and water proofing that something that routinely sees pavement needs. I think that LEDs need to conform with the car - like a paint job.
But when everything's said and done. It's your car. It's not a matter of age, it's a matter of what you want on the car. You can have bright colorful double rainbow car, or a murdered out batmobile.

Well, there's the kinda cool functional way to do it, and the bling way. I'm gonna do the footwell lights, because my black car, black interior and dark window tint make it a cave inside without additional lighting. A small under rocker light might also serve the function of making it easier for your gf in a lil black dress to find her way into the seat more gracefully or avoid stepping into gutter grunge with her $400 strappy heels. Technical thoughtfulness with a tasteful artistic twist is a win. "Hey look at me!" is a loss in anybody's book.

I think half of these peoiple on here talking about how ricer-ish they are and how played out they are, are also the ones screaming that they are illegal everywhere to use. Basically, they are the ones that have an opinion about everything and want to sound like they know what they are talking about. For the ones who's personal opinion was just that they personally wouldn't do it, this is not towards them. But for one, underbody lights are not as illegal as most people think. And second, they can look really good, like someone said, if done right. They are typically on show cars, but, and I don't know about you guys, my car ends up getting enough attention just on a regular basis. Now having said all that, if you really want to do your car up like that go for it! I did it with a 2001 white 2 door chevy blazer, lifted 7" running 33's, and won $500 at car show a few years back. So forget all the people that just want to hate to hate.
