Unhappy Broken Visor

My driver-side sun visor broke today. When I lowered it, it cracked, and separated from the internal mechanism. A new one is $105. Not sure how difficult it will be to replace since there is wiring for the lighted mirror.

Anyone else have this problem?

The parts guy at the dealer said this is the second one he has had to order.

I have to say the innards look sort of cheaply made.

Agreed, it should be covered under the warranty, and it should not be a dime out of your pocket.

Why did they try to charge you?

I didn't actually ask if this was covered or not. I just asked how much the part cost. I was anxious to get the part ordered so I can get this fixed. I wasn't really thinking about the warranty at the time.

It's possible this happened at the full-service carwash earlier in the day. I was very hesitant taking it to the carwash, but I don't have a lot of time for doing the car myself. Maybe now I'll need to find the time to do my own washing!

I have the same problem....mine broke about a week ago! I took it to my dealership and the warranty does cover it. They told me that it would be in middle of November.

Who told you that?

My smartass remark would be to "save weight", that's why the car weighs so little

Makes sense to kinda "see through" it.

Does it appear to you that there is a black metal "catch" inside that failed to rotate, and then the plastic visor just broke and rotated around it?

BTW, if the visor is rotated to the side window, those little holes can be annoying if you are wearing glasses, they sort of create a star burst pattern.

Thanks.

My driver side visor broke a couple of months ago (exactly as described above). It was fixed under warranty. I must have the worst luck, though, because my passenger side one just did the same thing today! Hope they'll still fix it under warranty - they might think I'm abusing them or something since it's happened twice now.

So they can be used as cocktail strainers in emergency situations.

Driver's side visor split today over the rod that holds it. Dealer is ordering one under warranty.

Literally so you can see through the visor. Ever tried to look up at a traffic light when the sun is directly in front of you. Doesn't explain why passenger side has holes, I guess to match the Drivers.

I'm gonna check out my visor to. I haven't had the problem yet, sounds pretty common though, do you smell a recall
