Bluetooth

Hi - I have a 2004 RX-8 with the 9.5 head unit firmware, I know that's the least popular/modifiable one; but I would really like to add BT audio to the car. Driving around with headphones is a real pain. Was there ever a way to add it to that firmware without upgrading the firmware, or just replacing the head unit?

Thanks.

You can upgrade your HU or get a GROM w/ BT. Your choice.

AFAIk you can no longer upgrade the firmware. But why does your audi need to be bluetooth? Just install and Auxmod.

Link? I would prefer BT, but if I can't get it easily I'm willing to compromise.

I have the grom bluetooth/aux/USB thing that plugs into the back where your CD changer would go. Sometimes I get some whine but it's only sometimes and only seems to be at night. I would still recommend it, aux cables are dumb when bluetooth connects automatically and sounds just as good.. Except for the rare whining that pops up every once in a while.

True - but I didn't think any of the Grom products worked with firmware 9.5

I don't know what firmware I have, in fact I don't think I checked before I ordered the GROM kit. It's an early 2004 Rx8... prior to the cooling line update. (just found out today)

Stereo add ons - amp kit, adapter to tie the subs into the rear speakers, Grom Bluetooth kit.

Flush mount USB adapter which allows for a clean factory install. I also got one for the aux input.

I think it looks factory

Grom mounted in glove box

Bluetooth adapter below the shift boot.

Can you check what firmware you have? If that would work I would prefer BT vs aux in.

I tried searching and saw a lot of posts on firmware, but didn't see any on how to actually check. Mind letting me know and I'll find out later tonight.
