Auxiliary input cuts out after 30 seconds

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with the AUX input on my RX8 and am hoping someone here can help out. I have the 6 disc Bose System and am using the PIE adapter (http://www.autosoundcentral.com/PIE_...alpalpmrca.htm)

I have had the system for around 8 months and it has worked well with the exception of this same problem happening for around 2 weeks 3-4 months ago. I am not sure what "fixed" the problem before, it just started working.

Here is the issue:

When I press the CD button to get into AUX mode the display shows "EX" and I can hear music through the system for around 30 seconds. Then everything goes silent. If I press the CD button again to get it to show "EX" music will continue to play for another 30 seconds before everything goes silent again. This has how I have been listening to external sources for the past week -- 30 seconds at a time.

I have tried multiple audio sources (iphone, galaxy s2, etc) and have the same problem with any device I connect to.

Like I mentioned earlier, I've had this issue before and it "magically" started working like normal. However, I would like to get to the bottom of this.

One difference I can tell is, when things are working as they should I do not see just the "EX" on the screen. I normally see "EX 1" . To me it seems like the head unit can't tell there is a signal going through or that anything is plugged so it shuts off the input after a predetermined amount of time.

Has anyone seen or experienced this issue before?

Thanks!

Hmmm strange. My money is on a faulty PIE adapter. You could try poking around the PIE harness with a multimeter. See if the signal out of the PIE adapter drops out after 30 seconds, or the signal stays solid but the headunit stops outputting audio.

+1. i've had to have mine replaced, had it less than 3 months at that time. it would intermittantly get extremely fuzzy or not work at all. since replacement, not a hitch
