audio system, phase two

Well, so far i have installed an Alpine IVA-D310 in the factory nav location, and up til now, i have enjoyed the factory bose speakers and amps.

Well, now its time for the next evolution. Tomorrow (hopefully) I will be upgrading the factory front stage with something with a little more punch. Going into the doors with be a set of Diamond Audio D9 component set, powered by not one, but two of the new Alpine PDX 2.150 amplifiers. One of the most amazing about these amps is their size. They are about 10 x 8 x 2.5 inches, for all the models, from the 2.150, to the 4.150 and 1.1000 models. One amp will be used for driving the mids, and one amp will be used for the tweets, in a bi-amp configuration for a total of about 300 watts rms per side, just in the front doors.

Also going in in this evolution will be the Kicker PKD1 amp wiring kit, and Stinger 12 farad capacitor.

Further down the road, I will also be adding one more PDX amp, the 1.1000 to run 2 Diamond Audio D6 12 subwoofers, and fully customizing the trunk.

I have a monster project on the go right now as well. A set of Focal 165 K2P speakers in the doors + 2 pairs of 165KBE midbas drivers underneath them. Each speaker has it's own 150w rms of Zapco Competition power behind it. A 165K2P center channel again with 150 rms to it, 165KP for the rear speakers and another identical set in the back cargo area for when the back is open. Using 3 of the big Zapco competition 4 channel amps to power all of this and a old original version Soundstream Tarantula driving a pair of the Focal quad coil 18's. Big monster project, thankfully it is not in a 8 this time around.

lurch, sounds pretty good. How will you mount the tweeters? Whatever you do, do not flush-mount them to the stock sail panel locations.

haha, there is no way in hell i would do that, off axis tweeters suck big ***. my biggest concern right now is being able to run 2 pairs of speakers wires into the door on the drivers side along with my 2 wires for my windows control from the alarm.

There is tons of room actually. If you look closely at the thread that True Magellan posted on my behalf, the pics show the 165K2P mids in his door mounted to the clear baffle. What you may not have noticed is that the normally yellow cones of the speakers might have been blue, green, red, orange or any other color of the rainbow. We ran 4 LED pods from a undercar suspension lighting kit from the door to the control module in the center console. We drilled out all of the extra holes in the molex's to allow all the extra wiring to pass through. Now I can't remember for sure as I have lost the pic's but we may also have ran some wires on the outside of the normal extra holes but still inside of the molex. Once you get it apart it should be pretty easy.
