Anyone tried this AUX adapter for all firmware versions?
http://car-aux-mp3-player.de/USB-MP3-4-Car-en.html
It has full capabilities, steering wheel controls, displays the MP3 ID3 tag in the LCD display. Works with all radio firmware versions.

It's a little expensive at $170 compared to $29 for the cheapest OEM without LCD (which only works with 9.55-9.99) but it does look pretty good.
Anyone?
I've emailed them to see if the limit on files is 99 * 6 (i.e. it supports the disk change button) or if it really is 99 (which is pretty limiting)

This would be great and I wouldn't even mind the price... but the number of tracks limit is a serious drawback.
If that was unlimited, I'd just stick a 60GB SSD or laptop hard drive with a USB connector into this and have the simplest, perfect jukebox - but having to live with that limit kills it IMO. Pity.

The developers reply is that the limit is 99 tracks and whilst he could support upto 6 * 99 tracks via the disc change button, development is now over and no more features are planned. It isn't great but it is still many times that of a 6-CD changer.
It's not the developers fault. The limitation of 99 tracks is imposed by the Mazda Head Unit. It was only designed to be connected to a CD player and so if you want to have TXT for each track I believe you have to emulate an Audio CD+TXT disc. The CD specification is where the limit of 99 tracks comes from.
I'm pretty sure that _ALL_ AUX devices which have track information displayed on the LCD are also limited to 99 tracks per disc.
You can get this AUX adapter without LCD TXT capability which has 540 tracks. Not quite sure where that limit comes from but I suspect that it is another Mazda Head Unit limitation.

For what it is the plain AUXMOD is a bit pricey. You can get full stand alone media players for between $30-50 with AUX in plus SD plus USB etc. with steering wheel controls if your head unit is the right version.
