Anyone ou there have a iQue GPS / PDA ?

Considering a GPS unit for my other cars - looking at the iQue a PDA/GPS unit from Garmin. Can get it with a 512 data card and a mobile automobile mount for about $650. Anyone out there have any personal info on the unit? - John

I have the IQue 3600...works great...I actually like it better than the NAV in the 8...i didn't get nav but drove an 8 at the dealership while mine was getting serviced and the NAV was just to blah...and the controls were a little wacky...

I like the IQue cause I can move it between my vehicles and take it on trips...I got mine off of Ebay...when I went to Ottawa last month this thing got me around like I was a local..mine came with the latest maps of North America...i think I paid around 495 though...650 sounds high...

I have the iQue. I love it for its mobility between my cars, its compact size (no bigger than a typical PDA) and the amazing accuracy of its GPS functions. I do have a few issues with it, however -- the main one being it's not compatible with a Mac! I have to download maps and upload track data to my boyfriend's Windows PC. I can use the Palm PDA functions on my Mac after buying additional "Missing Sync" software.

Other minor gripes include small screen size (compared to the NAV screens in built-in systems), lag time in locating satellites if car is moving, and detail maps not being listed in alphabetical order when you're trying to find an address that's on a different detail map than your current location. Overall, though, the unit is remarkable in what it can do in such a small size. I wouldn't be interested in owning anything as big as the Garmin Street Pilot III, but this little iQue rides around happily in my purse, doing double duty as a full-function color PDA when it's not mounted in my car telling me where to go.

Aratinga - Thanks for the info - with a 512Mb digital card can I get a large part of the US on the system?

XeRo - $650 is with a 512Mb Digital card and the car mount. ? Good deal.

I have NAV in my RX8 along with a laptop-based system with DeLorme software in the family van - this would be for my other vehicles.

I have the 512mb with car mount and external antenna...check ebay there are tons of them there...

I usually just load the section of the map i'm going to be in...I haven't tried loading up the whole US map on the card..i can try tonight and let you know, unless Aratinga has already done so...

XeRo - Please do - and I would like to load MidWest/ Eastern USA and Canada at once. My most common road trip is Indiana to Ontario or Eastern Canada. Thanks John

I only have the 256MB card, but I did manage to get detail maps for all of CA, AZ, NV, and OR, and parts of ID, CO, NM, and WA on there. I'm not sure a single 512 could hold the entire USA's detail maps, but if you get a couple of cards and put eastern US on one and western US on the other, that should work.

I couldn't fit the whole US detail map...Aratinga has a good suggestion that will work..but you can load up the entire Northeast as well as Midwest and I was able to fit Ontario and Quebec..I stopped there with room for more...

sorry I had to go to Dallas on business..that's why I wasn't able to get back to you sooner..

I'm not familiar with iQue, does it run on the PocketPC OS? I use Missing Sync with my Sony Clie on my Mac and I recently saw on their website that they now have a version of Missing Sync for Pocket PC.

I am using a Palm m505 with a Navman GPS attachment. I too love the portability. It features full color moving map and directions.
