Can some nice RX-8 owner do me a little favor?
Im contemplating getting an 8 when the weather turns nicer out here in chicago. I have a gps enabled PDA, and have it mounted with a powered PDA mount that attaches like a radar detector to my windshield. Can one of you helpful souls measure the distance from the edge of the top of the dash to the windshield? Just would like to know if I will need to buy a longer mount or not.

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking for, but from the edge where the display is (middle of the front of the dash) to the back side of the dash (where the windshield comes down) is 15.5"
I took diffy-screw (differential equations) @ JJC one summer...

My PDA is 5 1/2" x 3" x 1". I took the following photos. Where the NAV try begins it slopes down pretty dramatically and I would guess you will find that the space is unusable to support anything not anchored to the windshield from above. I'm pretty sure the same dash exists on the cars without the NAV. Hope it helps.

Last one... the PDA is vertical and touching the windshield, and the yellow ruler is 12" long. I think the space on the engine side of the de-frost vents is unusable.

Wow thanks! yeah Im thinking that the mount I have for it now will be good.. I dont have to worry about it getting in the way of the Nav, Ill use the nav on my PDA that only cost me 200.. instead of $2000 LOL
