That looks awesome... now all what's needed is that aftermarket DIN mount pod (but for a sane price, unlike that R-Magic pricing). Then we could have a nice stock-looking system in the 8 which can even play DVDs besides GPS for much less than the $2000 factory NAV option.

Maybe we could ask Parker at IPT, he might be able to do a mold that is not made of carbon fiber

Another one that occured to me is a different dash piece than Excentric is working on. A FRP unit that flips open... more like the stock NAV unit, but different in how it opens and closes (maybe the screen folds inward?) and setup to use a 7" VGA screen. Drop your CPU in the back where the stock NAV unit is normally held. My only question is about heat/ventilation for the CPU...

Tamas, BTW in another thread (https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...5&pagenumber=1), the thing you are talking about is being worked on by exentric. Target price for the FRP piece is like < $200 I think.

FOr the people who have the stock nav system, I wonder if we can just pop out the current dvd system and put a new one in (using the stock nav screen).

Hmm... good question. I'm under the impression that Pioneer, Kenwood, etc. NAV system is proprietary and thus can't be mixed and matched. If so... NG. If it's not, then you would only need to access the RGB input for the screen and plug your video in there.

Thanks... I have not followed that thread but it seems to be very promising. I'll be in once that piece is ready to be sold.

No kidding... 'delayed a bit' is the understatement of the week :p
I'm waiting for that as well because my pipe dream is to have one of those puppies in my car together with my MP3 jukebox :D
I guess I'll just keep on dreaming...
