Aftermarket Radio Head Unit Question
All - Just wanted confirmation after reading through all the great info on this forum. I'm getting ready to pick up my new RX8 this week and have already started dreaming of customizations!
From what I've read in order to have an aftermarket head unit you have to buy an adaptor (i.e. like the one from corksport that I just missed the group by on ) That is if I want my air conditioning to still work, right?
Just to note I'm planning on buying an '07 model, but I presume the screwy factory head unit design is still the same on the '07 and '08?
Also since my new baby will be a GT, and looking at corksport's website, I would need to get the Bose adaptor, right? And the adaptor for steering wheel controls?
Thanks in advance...

Thanks - Last dumb question, I'm presuming the warning on croksports website is till true " Installing this kit disables the display clock, ambient temperature, and the radio station/CD track information."
Can live without CD / track info, but no temp and clock...dangit...

i would think that what you replace the hu with will offer most of what you mention..

Thanks Swoop, the clock is probably a no brainer, same with CD track info. Guessing no dice on the temp.
Does anyone know of any shops in MD that would do the installation of both the corksport and new hu. I'd rather have a pro do it right the first time versus having them undo my botched install job and fixing it.

u get to keep ambient temp, but no clock, or track info,
and its pretty easy to install, as long as you're tidy, both the HU i had and the Corksport kit came with very clear instructions, took me about 2 hrs to install and i had no previous experience working with audio stuff at all

You have another option if you are skilled with the soldering iron and short of cash. You can keep the stock stereo inline and just replace the speaker outputs. I stashed mine up under the passenger footwell for a couple years before the corksport came out. When my stock radio finally kicked the bucket, I used the corksport kit... man it is 10000% easier.

Yeah, I really wanted to upgrade to an HD radio with built in Ipod connectivity and blue tooth. And would like to keep those steering wheel controls. Though I noticed that adds alot to the price of the corksport.
