ON AC/rear defrost problem.

My problem is that in the center control selector, I can not turn off my AC or turn on my rear defrost.

About a year and a half ago I installed an aftermarket deck and bought the center console replacement kit. It installed fine and everything worked great. About a month ago my deck died, so I replaced it. After replacing it I had this problem. I was hoping I just mixed up a couple wires, but it's only one cable going into that plug, which comes straight from the car, so I couldn't have mixed up any wires.

Anybody have any idea what the problem could be? I checked all my fuses already as well. I hope I don't need a new control piece from the stealership.

Broken wire?

You probably damaged a wire that connects to the interface box. Tell me exactly what buttons don't work (any others beside A/C and rear defrost?) and I will tell you what wire to look at. Are you using extension harnesses to connect to the interface box?

Those are the only 2 buttons that do not work. The AC button is always green (unless the fan is off) and the rear defrost button will never light up or turn on.

I am not running any wire extensions to the interface box, but I thought the harness that plugs into the back of that controller came from the car wireing harness, not from the interface box.

It could just be your climate controller is busted. Mine busted a month ago and I just replaced the unit. Maybe you could find a relatively cheap used one?
