I am going to order some super white fogs lights. I want to buy the 80 watt bulbs instead of the stock 55 watt. I don't think there will be any problem with the extra power consumption, but I wanted to get a second opinion anyway.

 

Eh, I don't know much but make sure the base won't be effected. What do we have plastic or metal?

 

i think you have to upgrade the harness...

 

IMO it will be too hot in the fog light casing with 80W bulbs. I installed superwhites which probably burn a little hotter and I live in south Florida. Both my fog light lenses cracked from the heat during the summer.

 

See if you can find some old threads on the subject. I remember reading that higher wattage fog bulbs also blew some fuses...

 

Yup, as I recall, 65W were the highest anyone has been able to go without problems.

 

I'm running 80W yellow ion bulbs and have not had a problem. Granted I don't use them often as there's rarely fog of note and I don't just drive around with them on for no reason.
