Hey guys, I think my ashtray cover recently broke...Now it flops open and closed way too easy. I usually keep it open as my iPod sits in the ashtray, but I pulled the iPod out and when I closed the cover it felt like it closed WAY too easy. Now it flops open with extreme ease.

Anyone else have an experience with this? The door is supposed to have some weight/dampening to it, right?

it sounds broke to me
does it open without you touching it while you drive

anyways if it is brokes mazda will replace it

ya mike, if i hit a bump, it bounces open...

There's a little spring on the shaft that hold it up or down, sounds like it has come off its plastic 'perch'.

Take a look at it when the dealer replaces it, it is a truly pitiful design, a wonder more haven't broken.

Yeah mine broke after 1 month. After I took the center console out I found the spring that popped loose inside.

Wow--mine must be broken too--cause it does the samething.

mine broke, took it to the dealer, they ordered a part and fixed it. warranty.

i have the same prob, also my temp control **** broke off. I have to get my oil changed today, so i am going to raise hell at Mazda
