Question 4080 box/sub instal

Hey guys

For surfing around this forum so much, i never stopped in and formally thanked the loads of info i got from the people here that convinced me into getting my rx8

Anyway, i'm interested in getting a 4080 sub box set-up, but i'm completely clueless even after researching. My first question is if an alpine type-r (10 inch) sub will fit in a 4080 enclosure (the measurements seem to look fine, but i could be missing something. If it does, i want to get 2 4080's, 2 alpine type-r's, and a jl 1,000/1 amp. Do you think this is too much bass, or will i be satisfied with just one and a jl 500/1 amp? I couldnt really find definate info from the search bar.

Thanks a lot!

I have a 500/1 and a 12W6V2 in a ZenClosure box, and it is actually too much bass for me (I am also running DynAudio components with a 300/2) I am looking at down-sizing to a single 10" in a 4080 or wickedcas box.

I've got two 4080 boxes with JL 10w6 v2's.
I'm powering them off a mono channel Kicker 1200 amp. I made certain to run a bass controller **** that way if I ever want to turn it down a bit, I can easily make that adjustment.

Check out some great threads in this subforum for advice on how to tap the rear speakers, what line converter to use, etc. Here's my thread on my stereo upgrade: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/jedis-bose-stereo-upgrade-103771/

Hey,

I can tell you that the Alpine type R will fit (I had one in my garage and I am using that for now in my 4080 enclosure). I also use just one box with the JL audio 500/1 mono amp. It provides more than enough bass for me, but it depends on your type of music/desired hearing loss. I listen to Frontline Assembly and Skinny Puppy (industrial music) which has some pretty heavy bass beats, and it sounds perfect with the rest of the RX Bose setup. One thing I will say is that the bass response benefits greatly from key placed sound deadening material in the trunk spaces (try looking up Ultimate B Quiet on ebay). Almost the same stuff as Dynamat at a fraction of the cost.

The Type-R will fit.... the W7 may not. Don't know the depth of them, just that they are considered one of the deeper boys.

Also, just wanted to let you know that the 4080 boxes are awesome. I have two right now. Extremely well built and they look...... the only word that could be used..... perfect.
