*>*>*>smoked Tails Help<*<*<*

Alrite guys I need some help. I am going to replace all the tail lights (Turn Signal light, Brake light, Reverse light, etc.) and I want to get all leds so that when I smoke the tails they will still be legal. Where can I find Leds to replace the tail lights??? I am looking for a "Plug-n-Play" so to speak. I did a search and no dice. Any help is appreciated.

go to superbrightleds.com http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm Ive used them and had pretty good results.
Just to give you a heads up I needed an LED loop isolater (I think its called?) for the brake lights. I got them at Autozone, they look like two pieces of white ceramic with wires coming out of the ends that you just splice in. Some leds like the brake lights on mine needed this or they wouldnt light up.

quick question because im going to be smoking my tails as well. Why does replacing your current lights with leds make smoking your tails legal? Is it because the brightness of the leds make it as bright as it would be without the "smoke".

Well as far as I know, In AZ, as long as you can see your brake and turn lights from 500 feet you are legal. You also have to have 2 reflectors in the back and two in the front. The leds I belive are a lot brighter so the chances of me getting pulled over for them being smoked are slim to none.

a guy on here named Mstyles smoked his himself, and didn't change the bulb out... This is his thread with pics

he said he just mixed just a little black paint into a batch of clear paint and then just sprayed it on.. but of course he tested it first on a piece of Plexi he had lying around... and he also said if you can still see the bulb without it being on then you will have no problems at all.

I hope you're REALLY good with vinyl - the lights are pretty curved and it's going to be difficult to put it on without any wrinkles... good luck man!

be sure to post pics and a DIY

Heat may be all you need.. I've never done it before so i really don't know..

and no disrespect or anything but blue sounds like a HORRIBLE idea.. especially if you don't want to get into with the cops, even if it is perfectly legal (which i doubt) I can't imagine the cops would leave you alone about it

I mean, blue would make the brake lights come out dark purple, and the reverse lights to be blue... and there is almost NO way you would be able to match it well enough to the car's blue that it wouldn't stick out like a turd in a punch bowl

Just my $0.02

i'd recommend buying a used set and painting. i have overlays on mine and it looks great from a distance, but there is no way you can not mess up the rear when using vinyl. no matter how much heat u use.
