Audiolink: where to mount the player?
Audiolink: where to mount the player?
I'm waiting for the mp3 player to come and I'm prepared hopefully to do the install behind the HU.
But for the player itself, if it goes in the glove box, I can't carry much else in there right? And if I put it in the cup holder, I can't have spill-able liquids.
I'm thinking about mounting it between the glove box and the dash, there's a nice small space that is somewhat stealth.
If I go with that, can you tell me basically how to mount the player. Do I have to drill holes in the side of the dash to put a tie or two through to hold the player? Or can I use some type of double-sided tape?
I've never mounted something like this before in a car so any advice would be great. I still might just want to put it in the glove box but what do you do with the manual and other stuff you'd normally keep there?
Thanks!

it sounds like your making this too dificult. You should just let a stereo place do it for you and not worry about it. I think you should put it on the drivers side in that little compartment to the left of the steering wheel and just run the cable underneath the dash to the HU. At least there it won't be in the way and thiefs won't be able to see it and be tempted to break in for a player.
I have the audiolink wrapped in a bit of foam and tucked into a bracket that runs between the HU and the glove box, it's a perfect fit. Then the Ipod wire runs into the glove box. I would suggest zip tying or electrical taping the connector from the HU into the audio link and the connector from the Ipod into the audio link just to make sure they never come loose.
