Lights.....

I thought this was well understood by now - the higher the 'K' the less light, and more "decorative" the lights become.

Direct ratio, but the loss of actual light doesn't become a problem up to about 6000k.

I hate to hijack this thread, but is it okay to re-rout it to a more useful question?

What temp looks closest to the stock Xenon bulbs?

The stock HID bulbs?

Stock are 4300K

I had 8000K but changed them out with 6000K because I was tired of the blue lights (ricer). The 6000K are noticably brighter.

Does anybody know what the 2005 Corvette has? 4300K? And for those who have 6000K....do you guys lose some of that cutoff effect when you shine the light on a flat surface?

BTW. According to HIDPlanet.com...."So what is the best bulb out there then you ask? 4100-4300k. It has the most lumens out of all the HID bulbs produced. Thats why car manifacturers still use them today."

Are you looking to get rid of the 8000k bulbs?

You can get to the lights from the wheel well. It's about a 10 minute job for both sides if you only remove what you need to.

I have a DIY on my web site about HID fogs if anyone is interested.

www.trickrx8.com

You can also see the color of the 8000K that I had installed at the time.

Do you just remove the fender shroud?

There are two shourds in the wheel well. There is one that you need to remove to get to the fog lights which is the lower one. There is another shourd driectly above that, if you remove 4 or 5 of the snaps you can pull it back and reach the back of the lights. It is very simple, you'll see.

cool. I just don't like taking very many pieces of this car apart. It never seems to go back very well. My other cars just seem easier to work on.
