what about a roof scoop?

what about a roof scoop?
ive seen the list of body kit manufacturers but who sells them all and no one makes reference to roof scoops, are they no longer in style? i dig that whole fast and furious look.
ps, about all my previous posts, i got my new body kit, wheels, clear side markers, red racing seats, carbon hood-mirrors-rear wing , and lowering kit all ordered now i just have to wait for them all to arrive, i feel like a giddy little school kid again!!!!! but what really is gonna suck is i am going to wait to put anything on until every piece arrives so i can have it all done at once, cool huh!

Lame.
Is it a rally car? Did you take out your a/c?
Didn't think so.
For the love of God people, don't do things to this car that are gonna make people ASHAMED to own one...

Yup. People are free to do what they want to their cars, just like I'm free to tell them that they've turned an attractive machine into a hideous monstrosity.
Roof scoop? Can I interest you in some Xtra large side strakes to cool the inside of your trunk as well?

No one sells them because they are STUPID.
Why the hell would there be a scoop on a roof??? So the air can have a place to go....where? Is there something in the roof that would benefit from this? NO.
If you're looking to rice up your car wih stuff like this, sell the RX8 and get a Civic.

I'm sure someone sells a universal one but I have no idea where. I dont think its right that people are flaming him because he chose to do something he likes to his car. I'm sure many of you have different opinions on how to mod a car and it should be respected. BTW, my old car was a civic and there is NO shame about driving one

actually the scoop looks really good on the car, ive done a rough photoshop of the look and its alot better than you would think, and as to the " buy a civic " comment well to you my friend there are alot of civics out there that would beat the holy pants off of the rx8, in fact i sold my 1998 integra type r for this car and sitting in my garage next to my rx8 is my 2003 lexus is300 so i think i know quite abit about style and performance, the particular look im after on the rx8 requires that of a subtle look on the roof, the scoop i chose is off of a 1960's boss mustang, it is 2.5 inches high and 15 inches wide and will strech a great portion of the roof length, by leaving out the turn indicators on the scoop it allows air to travel straight through it freely, so if you still want to flame on about it, i will take a photo of the car when its all done and you will all see just how good it looks and im willing to bet there will be others who will do it to after seeing the results!

Or like any Rally car has. The difference being that in a Rally car there is a damn good reason for it.
On a street car, there is no good reason. Only appearance.
So really, anyone who gives a damn about performance will laugh at this sort of juvenile nonsense.
What I'd really like to know is, where is the best location to mount a large "TYPE-R" sticker on my RX8

ok to all those who think roof scoops are stupid, here are a few street legal production cars with roof scoops ( functional yes ) but a roof scoop still the same:
Saleen s7
lamborghini diablo gtr
porsche 911 gt1
mercedes benz clk-gtr
lotus elise gt1
mclaren f1
stealth b6 ( all carbon fiber car, very cool heres a link )
http://www.racecar.co.uk/stealth/introduction.htm
shall i go on.........
so in my opinion, even though not functional, its still a very cool look found only on the rarest most sought after supercars built to date.:D

the sharp angels of the 8's hood and roof lines i believe would be accentuated nicely by a slim wide roof scoop painted to match the body color. not some big goddy rally style scoop but tasteful, somthimg that would probably go un-noticed unless looked at twice, the saleen s7 is a perfect example of what im talking about when it comes to scoop design. check out the link.

i would post a pic but i am unsure how.

I'm sorry, I gotta agree - unless you're converting your RX-8 to mid-engine, then a roof scoop looks as silly as some of those big side vents in front of the rear wheels that other body kits use (again, emulating mid-engine cars). If you were driving a Toyota MR-2, Fiero, or some other REAL mid-engine car, then it's not so bad. If you were even driving a car that rally cars are based on, like a WRX or Evo, then it's not so bad. Otherwise, it's just kinda silly and sad, same as a fake hood scoop.
Then again, what do I know - I thought F&F was the lamest, stupidest movie ever, and figured the cars in F&F were a sad, pathetic joke. :D
Regards,
Gordon
