I agree with that....and the higher slope on the hoop scoop will look better, and if made functional later will collect more pressure inducted air from the front.

You're correct. My Mistake.. i had the standard STI intercooler mounting confused with the WRC Subaru STI car.

Current: (sorry this is the best pic i could find at the moment)

My point is still that this scoop won't be functional on an 8.

Well I know that it would help with the wind flow pulling air out of the RX-8 hood if the scoop was facing the windsheld. Last Friday my hood would not stay down. Something had come lose and I had to use my shoe lace to tie my hood down lol! it was great. With the wind and at one point going only 45mph my hood would just go "Bunk" and pop right up. So I pulled over and put my finger under the hood "Bink" it poped up with the my finger alone. After the slow drive me and another member form RX-8Club got to meet up eat an drink. But after I had to use my shoe lace to keep the hood down. This is why I want to get the Veil side hood something better than nothing.

Sorry everyone for not updating this post. I was waiting for all the names on the list to decide if they wanted carbon fiber or fiberglass. Look like the majority of people want fiberglass. We needed 20 people or more for this project and we have over 30 people signed up. But not everyone have decided what they prefer. Here is the price structure we are offering for fiberglass.

Fiberglass Concept Hood Scoop suggested retail price $230.
Group Buy of 20 to 30 people price $190
Group Buy more than 30 people $180
Shipping is not included and vary in price shipping from San Diego.

sorry but we will not make this in carbon fiber material because we do not have enough buyers.

The final hood scoop will be very similar to the concept hood scoop. This is an edited version of what the fiberglass hood look look like.

Looking forward to making the hood scoop come alive.

Will this piece sit flush like the one in the picture or is their a possability of it being a little warped 'cause thin fiberglass has a tendency to distort. What I'm trying to ask is : will their still be a need for body work to the peice besides paint, or can it be painted and inastalled as is and end uo looking excactly like the picture? I'm am ready to send a deposit. thanks

the hood scoop will comes with prime paint ready to be painted to color match your OEM hood. We will make the hood scoop in fiberglass to fit right on top of the OEM hood like in the picture from MS.

^^^^ I think you paint it first then attach it to your hood, unless you want to blend it in to the hood, in which case, then yes.

I don't know how I feel about helping to fund $100.00 for a project and still having to pay another $130.00 when it's done. $230.00 seems to be excessive for us who are willing to front the money. If the piece was ready to ship then o.k. or $100.00 final price for good faith before the piece is made. JMO

I agree that I like the concept hood above, but $230 for just the fiberglass piece...then we have to pay to have it painted after too. This could turn out to be a PRETTY expensive venture...considering the final install with paint and part. I can imagine at least another $80-100 to paint with base and clearcoat for quality match and finish. Ouch. If we are the first to bid and fund this project...can we get some kind of discount or at least cut for the up-front money without even seeing the final product? Might help with the funding considering the investment with no final product to show and persuade others to purchase.

That is why you should keep a roll of duct tape with you.

I will put the money upfront through Paypal, but can you give somekind of update for a delivery time? I am not poor, but of course I don't want to put up money and not see finished product for like 6 months or something. From the last photo, it looks like the scoop I was picturing...so the money can be these like yesterday....with some info. Thanks,

I can't see spending $230 on such a small piece of work. For another $180 I can get a CF hood, no thanks.

So is this idea gone null and void? I still like the concept of the hood scoop, but no new updates on the production?
Bump too!
