yeah in the end generally its better to buy an athentic, unless you find a really good repilica you are gonna pay a good amount for preping and fitting and painting.
also depending on your color you may have to try multipul times just to get it to look right.
many times it cost more in the end for a replica than for the real thing. i bought the authentic one and i installed the front by my self. real simple

Thanks for the advice. But the MS cost $1100 for the front alone. I've read many who comment aftermkt no good because of the things you guys state, but I think there are some who are able to get a good outcome (I see MikeB's ride came out pretty good).
Chrism...which kits do you recommend (I prefer eurethane - the fiberglass is liable to break in the hills of san francisco. Otherwise I'd get the vielside kit like yours)?

I had their rear bumper for awhile. I ended up selling it to another member, who had it repainted to go on his VR.
Fitment was ok, nothing to be too upset about. The member who bought it from me paid to have a body shop install the bumper, and it fits great now...much better than what I was able to do.
The bumper doesn't go as low as the true MS bumper...so you'll see a lot fo your exhaust.
I have some pictures of the rear the day I replaced it with the true MS part...so you can see them side by side...I'll see if I can find some pictures here at work...most of my pics are at home though.
Pic 1( the one with red taillights...is with the true MS)
Pic 2 (side shot is with the Vision Autodynamics bumper)..
front and side skirts are true MS..and the vision rear bumper was two-toned....

Did the lenses myself with a "red out" kit from Ebay....it is similar to the products guys are putting on their headlights to "black" them out...or "smoke".
check this thread....plenty of pics:

You might be surprised at how the red would look on VR. I did a set of amber front corners, covered them with the same red out material and put them on Lesper4's VR. Looks awsome.....check the "06-07 San Bernardino Calendar thread" and you'll see his car.

question...
where can i find a MS style rear bumper with good fitment (just the lip part, not entire new bumper) for a fraction of the price? Would it just be better if i order true MS primer and paint get it painted myself?
anybody know any sources?
thanks

I am having fittment issues on my authentic msp rear bumper. Where the gray area goes across where it was cut to the bottom left and right of the bumper the is a decent sized gap. Would undoing all the screws and holding it in place then screwing it down ensure a good fittment? Also the side skirts have some gaps too.

what you're referring to on the rear bumper is typical. Take/post a pic of it and I'll let you know if it looks the same as mine. As for sideskirts, you're going to eventually have some gaps anyways. All my fasteners (the little white ones) have all busted. The only thing keeping them on now are the four fasteners along the underneath side, as well as the bolts in the front/rear fender wells.
Alright Rovic, time to persuade you over to the dark side, I know that kwescott may have had the rear bumber for a while, but I have the full body kit installed and many pics to show of it. I also have a little story to go along the reason why my car is at a body shop right now.
I know many of you say go to the authentic because simply you can't get better than that. but truthfully I know I am myself, lots of us are on a budget. I myself work in a fast food restaurant and am a student in a university, so as you can see the money flow isn't that great lol. The Vision Autodynamics kit I think has held up its end of the bargain because even though I don't have much expierence with body kits. For some reason when I was looking to buy a kit many different places online usually brought them in from Japan and that would have been time annoying, so I looked in the mazdaspeed, which is beautiful but way expensive simply because I was looking for the entire kit. After making my decision I knew that It couldn't be fiberglass simply because its fiberglass and the way I drive. When I found the Vision Autodynamics website I was happy to see what they were offering and also when I contacted a custom shop in my area and they told me the name of the kits they offered I noticed Infini flared on their list and when I went back online and saw it there It kinda felt like there was more reliability in it. So after making my purchase which came out to about 1300 and change I believe for the kit. My car was in the body shop for a small repair because of me and accidently hitting a curb and a small tree one night broke my headlight and the bottom side of the bumper so instead of going to the stock I decided it was time to upgrade. A couple of weeks later when I got my car back, btw I was in constant communication with the body shop manager, always getting updates so pretty much for the full kit, the back bumper was the easiest to install, he said that one pretty much went on completly fine. when it came to the front bumper they said the inside parts were a bit to tight so they shaved off a little from the inside to make it fit and with the side skirts I wasn't too sure what they meant cause i never saw this part but I believe he said they were a little too short, but it seemed to turn out just fine, the shaved down some of the top parts so the doors could still open and close without problems of rubbing. so the fitment with a good body shop shoudn't be a problem. When it came to the painting though it wasn't hard but just time consuming since the body kit was very oily, they had to bake it in their oven for a while and after then when they started to paint it there seemed to be notches of some type through out several parts of the kit, but good buffing with sandpaper I believe finally let them paint over it without a problem. once the side skirts were placed gapping was a problem. I do'nt really know how much of a problem because even though there are gaps from a distance the darkness goes with the trim of the car lol. Anyways that pretty much concludes my body shop story on this body kit. Hope that helps, I also have an accident story when I got rear ended last week pretty hard. I have good pics on showing how the rear bumper took the hit. But for now several pics on the body kit itself in velocity red.

These are some pics after my accident. It was a chevy blazer that hit me from behind at maybe between 40 and 50 mph, I think the 8 took the shot really well. and as for the rear bumper im glad I didn't get the fiberglass because it seem to have taken the shot really awesome. If you look at it closely you can the that the bumper barely moved but the rear metal plate got pushed back pretty far, I want to say about a foot at most and you can't see it in the pic but around where the license plate should be the rear bar got bent in pretty far too. It kinda sucks because that sound system was recently put in too. From the looks of it didn't get damaged because it was still working but i am just waiting to hear from the body shop because Im going to pick it up once they take it out since the metal kinda got lodged over it and I coudn't take it out myself.

Here's a couple of pics from the guy who bought my rear bumper. He bought replica fronts and sides from another forum member, not sure if they are from the Infini kit or not....but the rear is. He had the kit painted two-toned...red, with a black bottom portion. Looks nice in person.
Thanks for the comprehensive write up of your body shop experience with the Ifini kit darkdelphi...it goes to show that the kit does not come ready from the box like the MS components. I did all the install work on my kit, and had it done in two partial evenings after work. No need to body shop, or paint shop it, as it comes ready to go.

That's what my car is missing a front metal mesh that goes in front of the entire front side, any body have any suggestions of where I can find something like that, I have heard that the MS front comes with it and could possibly be bought seperatly? Anybody know anything?
does anyone know if the accolade ms rear diffuser is any good? they say its made out of PFRP(guessing thats plastic?) Looks like it would have a good fit to me. Anybody have any feed back on them?

Other option, is to buy the prefabbed stuff from APC....or buy some mesh from Home Depot.
We originally had the mesh on our other 8 painted black, but then the fiance wanted it painted silver to go with her wheels.
