V-LEDs Tail Light Star Design

Has anybody tried these LEDs? Will they fit in the factory light housing?

I notice that the stock bulbs are not tinted red. Is it safe and reasonable to use white LED taillights to provide a brighter glow while the red enclosure will still provide the red tint.

It will still be a red tail-light, just a bit brighter and lighter where the LEDs reside.

I've had them since last winter and they are 10times brighter then the OE lights.

IMO worth the price. If I were you i would stick with the red LED

Pico: any night time pics?
any draw backs to swapping out to these LED's? Is it the brake lights that freak out the abs system for some people?

Rev: isn't that what happened to RedFox?

the amber turn signals are V-Led AMBER 1157 V-LEDS 7W HIGH POWER 20 LED TURN SIGNAL BULBS 2057

He swapped some LEDs into his brake lights, when unbeknownst to him there was already a LED in the 3rd brake light which trips some of the dash lights. He replaced 3rd brake light with a regular bulb and it was fine.

Installing a resistor in the 3rd brake light solves the problem if you have all LEDs

I also have the LED 3rd brake light that isn't shown in the pics above. I 'm not using a resistor on the 3rd brake light and there are no problems to report .

Only resistors being used are two 3ohms for the rear turn signals.

Interesting, although to my knowledge the problem occurs when the 3rd brake light is replaced with a 7440 LED. Your fancy schmancy LED board must be different

Pico, is that 3rd brake light one of the ones available on ebay? Been looking for a good 3rd brake light as well, what do you think of the one you have there?

Pico, I like the look of the turn signals as well, but I'm not sure about double the price for the "high power" ones, anybody have any experience with the standard amber turn signals and the standard white back up lights? I presently have the tail-light kit from rotaryfx and i'm disappointed with the results.

I bought this 3rd light off of a member here. It looks exactly like the one's you'll see on ebay. I like it a lot, the brightness of the 3rd matches up very well with the v star brake lights. Very bright

I think its worth the price
the OE and FX lights are very under power. I have had the FX lights in the past and they definitely not worth the money.

What about the V-LEDs standard (I already know too well to avoid the rotaryfx ones). Here's a link: V-LEDs M-SMT 27 LED Amber.

And the same for white backup lights: V-LEDs M-SMT 27 LED White.

I've seen these Leds in action and they look descent.
Definitely not as bright as the 7w bulbs but they still would be a good upgrade

I've seen the ones on sale on eBay and was wondering if they'd require a resistor.

They dont need resistors. I have all my brake lights replaced with LEDS and they work fine. However, if you want to change the indicator lights to prevent hyper flashing I think you will need resistors.

No resistor for 3rd brake light -- if you buy the actual light
3-6 ohm resistors for the signals are a must if you want to prevent hyper flashing.
