V-Led upgrade Brake and Signal Lights

I just picked up these from V-led- brake and front and rear signals. I'm running the conversion lights from rx-strakes at the moment. IMO they aren't up to par (not bright enough) I'll be taking pictures before and after once the new V-leds are installed. Stay tuned...

V-led light Specs:

2- Vled vstars (Red) bulbs part# 7443 7440

4- Vled 7w 20LED High power (amber) signals part#7440

Very cool. Can't wait to see the pics. I'm probably going to go with the same bulbs for my turn signals and the red version of those for my tails (as soon as they're back in stock).

Pico: very cool
Your turn singals are going to blink much faster with the LED's though.

Great! I'm esp. interested in how bright those 7w amber lights are. If they're nice and bright, they should be good for brake lights in 7443 red style.

I got the resistors from the rx-strake setup plus i bought new ones from vled that yield a higher load. I should have mention that in my first post, my fault fellas. ?More pics to come hopefully this weekend if I get them installed.

Installed

Heres the comparison. 10 times better the the rx-strake setup. very bright. Thanks Mike. Oh, And there is a need for two resistors on the same circuit with using 2 7w bulbs for signals. I have resistors in the trunk already now I need to put them in the front. It going to suck getting to them and removing the front wheel. Thankfully I will have some help tomorrow.

first two pictures are the befores last two and the afters

Sorry, but are you doing a comparison in the pics or just showing the new bulbs? You say comparison, but I can't tell or see a dif between pics. Also, in the last pic, how is it you have both amber turn signals on at the same time?

Can you do some turn signal and brake daytime pics? That's when the extra bightness is most useful. At night, almost any LED is bright enough.

there both on because the Hazard (flasher) are on. And yes I can take more pictures during the day. these were quick pics at 10pm last night. So, give me time and I'll have new pictures posted soon.

in person, these are all BRIGHT as ****. they look awesome. once we get those turn signals to behave, your setup is gonna be total baller

Very cool! I'm holding out for the high power red 7443 bulbs, then I'll have a similar setup.

Mike and I worked on it yesterday and tried to put a resistor up in the front right fender and its still hyper blinking. I gotta call vled about the problem today. I works fine without the 7w in the front (no hyper blinking) but when the two 7w signals are install front and rear there's the hyper blinking problem. I already have a resistor in the trunk on both circuits and tried putting another in the front and it didn't fix the problem. We even tried putting a lower watt led in the front to see if that would fix the problem and still it was blinking fast.

It 'should be' a simple current matching situation. Use an ohmmeter to measure the incandesent bulb current, then match that with the LED and resistor combo in parallel to produce the same draw. Once you have equal current draw all should work as before.

So i guess maybe I could need a smaller powered resistor being that the LEDs draw less power?

This is what V-LED says:

Load Resistor Kits: 6 Ohm, 50 Watt resistors can be connected across the turn signal wire to simulate the load of a regular filament bulb (2 Amp load). This will solve LED related turn signal problems such as hyper flashing, no flashing or burnt out bulb indications. One resistor is required for each turn signal bulb. Kit includes two resistors and 4 gel filled moisture resistant splice taps.

But in this case (and in general) I found yoiu can get away with less draw thru the resistor and the flasher will still work ok. A 10 or 12 ohm min 25W resistor (max 1.2A draw) for example might be a good match for the higher current draw of the 7W LEDs as those LEDs take .58 amps all by themselves.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm... I'm currently running 2 50watt 6ohm in the trunk causing the hyper flashing. I bought 50watt 3 ohm from Vled and install one in the front right and still had the problem.. I guess I'll have to see what type juice is getting pulled through that circuit.

Zooowie, 3 ohm! That'll pull 4 amps (!!) on the circuit and that could burn out the flasher perhaps...that's too much. Two amps total on a circuit should be the max draw. Are you sure you're putting the resistors in parallel not series with the LEDs?

parallel ties ends together and connect to circuit
__led___
__res___

series ties LEd and res together and tie into circuit

__led___ __res___

the 3 ohm resistor was removed . just running the 6ohm in the trunk. We you say parallel and series what are you referring to? + /- connection?

...oh dear... series means you connect one LED lead and one resistor lead together. Then the remaining lead of the resistor and the remaining lead of the LED connect to the circuit using the correct polarity. This IS NOT what you want to do here in this situation!

parallel means you connect the two leads of the resistor to the two leads of the LED and then connect those ends to the circuit using the correct polarity.

I'll have to check to polarity. MIKE are you reading this??? haha
