Question stock rims (powder coated)

just asking for opinions and possible help
i have a silver rx8. i was thinking of powder coating my stock rims black, just wanted to know if anyones done this. i was also considering going all ***** out and painting them myself but i dont know what kind of paint i should use. i know some of you could give me some pointers on this and i figure, if i screw it all up, ill finance some rims. id appreciate some suggestions guys, and wish me luck, ill be doing this tomorrow. it should look pretty good considering i have limo tint all the way around and it would complement the rims heavily.

Maurice (Canzoomer) did something to his to get them blue... at least I think it was him. I was thinking about powder coating mine one day if I didn't get new ones first. I asked a friend who has researched it a little, and he skirted the issue. I haven't gotten around to looking into it myself. If anyone else has input on powder coating, there is more than one person who would like to know more.

bad thing about you spray painting them with any autozone paint can which say gunmetal paint for wheels is you will get a deep enough scratch or maybe a hairline scratch because of a rock or such.
and then you will get pissed.i say send them out to get powdercoated at a body shop if you are serious about the overall
apperance.
good luck and show us pixs either way.

I just posted something on powder-coarting my rims black. I have a red 8... I wanted to do my rims black and my calibers red and i was looking for a good price on it but not a cheap job...if anyone has info...or pix...post them please. I was thinking about painting them myself but it is too risky and when they chip it does look cheap...so heads up on that - dont do it.

The search engine here is a wonderful thing. (hint, hint)

Here's Canzoomer's powder coated wheels thread, with pictures of the entire process.

Regards,
Gordon
