Unhappy Someone please help me.. ahhhhh!

Unfortunately, I need a new bumper ... wrecked into a curb when it was raining pretty heavy last week =(... and... this is only a few weeks after my prior incident where I had to get new rims/tires (sexxxy ones).. BUT! at least now I'm getting an even sexier 8 .

All right... so I've been googling and search, googling and searching my mind out of my head now for hours...

Can someone please, please tell me what the ffff is a decent replica company - or at least point me to the correct thread, I am reading sooo many biased reviews... I have 700$ to play with so I'm thinking even if I got a cheaper bumper I'd have enough cash to get it to fit right.. BTW, the 700$ does not include painting - that is separate...

So far, I am gathering that Accolade (poor customer service though?) and Shine are decent companies and have nice fitment.. VIS and AIT are okay... and Extreme Dimensions is exactly as the name says .

I'm thinking MazdaSpeed... AutoExe... something like that..

I've read that the VIS Magnum is good and much like the MS... ?

Any help would be soooooooo appreciated you have no idea... I'm all out of magical Googling power .... and YES, I know that authentic is religion.

anything you order from Japan parts is going to cost more then $700 plus waiting for the December container to arrive will mean Kelli won't have anything installed until mid January.

Everyone knows how much I hate replicas but I have seen the quality work that Shine Autobody does and the owner Ken seems to be a good guy to deal with.

How bad is your bumper now? I know a few good body guys who can fab one up - then it is one of a kind and will fit perfectly (assuming your bumper isn't 100% gone.)

It's only a bit of the corner... I'm going through insurance so I don't know...

I just talked to Ken from Shine - he said the fitment is very good, you just need to screw the part where the side markers are in...

What I am driving at is that; you can get the bumper style you want; and any cheapass replica will do - and have the body shop mold it to your old bumper; I've seen some good shops do it with like supra's and whatnot - and the results were astounding! Clean, custom and usually cheaper than trying to make a crappy one fit the car right; and it looks better too.

/\ made from what ?
the great thing about the factory bumper is the resilience of the material . Few after market bumpers can equal that ....

All the high speed epoxies they use; I dunno - the one guy I use in HI actually uses aluminum in his custom body kits.... but the point is most of the bumper is the factory one; just the accoutrements are aftermarket.

I'm betting Rotr8 would be able to point you in the right direction locally to a shop that can do it; but basically all these parts are various types of plastic/fiberglass etc - and can all be molded to each other as well as the body. They guy who does my stuff in HI uses aluminum because he does a lot of custom widebody kits etc; and aluminum is better for large pieces like that - but your talking about 25K for a 100% custom widebody kit and paint.

But for example to mold the MS rear into the factory bumper is about 2 hours of labor; plus paint.... or if you take the rear aero's and mold them - or cut and paste another that you like onto the factory bumper.... again someone local would probably know the best shop to start talking to. I find that with good shops - I just ask them to use their creativity and show me what they think works; and their results are always way better than what I could come up with.

No problem, and as Kane stated a good bodyshop can make it fit, it's what they do!

the molding techinque Kane has mentioned has overlooked one critical point however, which is the underlying statement of everything aftermarket related, fitment and quality.
If there is an enormous gap that lets say is a half inch big on one of the corners, no bonding technique in the world will save you. If you bond it that means you tucked or pulled the kit out of wack to create that bonding surface. Somewhere else on the kit will suffer either structurally or visually,,,
