Yeah, I kinda like the F16 Evo one. Call me twisted, it's just kinda cool.

Roger Voodoo. The others look like speculums. Do they come with KY Jelly?

Wherewithall? The Voodoo shift ***** are less than HALF the price mentioned for the Momos! Well, unless you go with the Titanium, then they're slightly more. I've got two aluminum Voodoo for my Miata right now (regular size crinkle black, and magnum size polished), so I'll try one on the RX-8 next summer, but ultimately my Ti RX-8 needs a Ti Voodoo ****.

I had something very similar to the Combat Evo in my Infiniti. One of very few manual Infinitis out there. Felt great, looked great. I'm sticking with the stock piece though. I think it's very unique and I like the feel. JMO.

What's wrong with the original shift ****? It fit's the interior so nice and doesn't look bad so why change it?

Well, that's good, since you're not supposed to drive with your hand on the shifter anyway! Seriously - both hands on the steering wheel, at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock. When you need to shift, move the shifter, and put your hand back on the wheel.

Gordon

Where the hell does this guy get off telling me what....never mind..

Anyway...the OEM shifter is the one i'm referring to DC...it's always at the bottom angle of the rotory symbol...i'll snap a pic and post...

I could have just said "keep your hand off your **** when driving", but that would have been rude! :p I'm not telling you anything, just a suggestion - you're the one wearing out shift *****, not me. I can't say that I've ever seen noticeable wear on any shift **** of mine, including one for 9 years and 140K miles.

No offence intended - on the internet, it's impossible to know what sort of experience or training someone has. There's lots of young people out there that think they're fast drivers who drive with one hand on the top of the steering wheel and one hand permanently on the shifter, and don't know any differently (they're fun to watch at their first autocross They also get faster very quickly with only a tiny bit of instruction). Without having any knowledge of your driving experience or history, my comment was intended as a helpful suggestion, for you, and for any others that might read this. That's all. Don't be so sensitive, this is the internet! :D (is that going to get another "Where the hell does this guy get off telling me not to be so sensitive" reaction? :p

Regards,
Gordon

no...i'm just not your 15 year old who's father has bought them an RX-8...

FYI, i have in the past owned Car Tunes ( a tuning shop), and Sound Effects (car audio shop)...approaching 30 i think i know how to drive...and another tid bit...i raced my Integra for 3 years (legally) and drove it for a full 6 years before letting it go and never had to change my "****"....

no i'm not overly sensitive either...just don't like people making assumptions...but as you said...it is the internet..no offense taken no offense given...

thanks for your "aid"...maybe some of the "hot shots" that DO frequent this forum will use it....

I don't like keeping my hand on the shift **** i know its a bad habit. I'm not a young person that thinks im a fast driver (i am young though) it's a habit because i change gears more frequently when im driving city to try and save mileage (i hope im not wrong). Is that wrong? i do keep both hands on the wheel when i can though. as in available somehwat long periods of time. any tips?

sounds ok to me... if you don't wanna shift so much, then don't: there aren't rules that say "thou shalt not ever skip a gear"...

if you're coming around a tight righty downtown, during rush hour, on a red and you're worried about someone coming up really quick behind you, just leave it in first as you turn and accelerate; as you take it up to 5 or 6k, drop it down into 3rd to cruise.

if you're starting pointing down an appreciably sloped hill, start in 2nd... etc etc etc.

Yup, I'd just suggest that you only touch the shift **** when you're actually moving it. Otherwise, put your hand back on the steering wheel. It's a habit in itself to do this, but it's worth developing. From the steering wheel, your hand is only a few inches away from the shift ****, so it only takes a split-second to reach the shift **** when you need to shift. When you don't need to shift, your hand isn't doing any good there - in fact, some gearboxes don't take kindly at all to having a hand resting on the shift ****, because the pre-load on the bushings can cause significant wear in the gearbox! If your shifting hand is back on the steering wheel, then you can react much more effectively to any sudden traffic situations that arise, such as the moron in the SUV changing lanes without looking, etc.

Regards,
Gordon

As Gordon said, plus, if you ever attend a performance driving school (Bondurant, etc.) they'll whack your hand but good if you rest your hand on the shift ****, or don't have your hands in the correct position on the wheel.
