no color-keyed shift **** for manual trans??

So in the accessories brochure, it says the color-keyed chapparal/black and red/black shift ***** are for automatic only. Anyone know why, or does anyone know if this can be made to fit the MT shifter anyway? I think it's kinda stupid that they offer everything but the color-keyed shifter **** on both models... Thanks.

I was wondering abou that too. My only guess at this point as to why they're AT only is because the top of the know doesn't display the gear diagram, but rather just has a logo. Well, that's my guess anyway, although I don't know why they wouldn't make one with the gear diagram.

I had cross-posted my question to the general discussion forum also, and here's the answer I got back:

"I tried to install the shifter **** available as an accessory for the automatic in my MT and it would not fit. The holes are different physical sizes - I even removed the chrome bevel at the bottom of the auto shifter - no fit."

Hope this helps.

The ashtray has been replaced with a more functional "XM Commander" Ive attached the thread that a bunch of us have been talking about it on. So far Best Buy is the only place that has it, and its a pretty simple install. Took all of 30 minutes and you dont even have to cut anything.

Question red leather shift ****?

I checked with Mazda and they want $200 for the red leather handbrake and $165 for the red leather gearshift ****. I think they'd look cool in my Red RX-8 with the red/black interior, but not at that price. Has anyone ever had an upolstery shop do something like that? Would it be any cheaper?

The standard gearshift **** color is black, I've got the black/chapparel interior, and my gearshift is black too.

might start a new thread with this but has anyone noticed their rotary emblem on the top of the shift **** getting wear...mine has a worn spot on the bottom angle...quality sux on this it should have been a piece of METAL not painted plastic...

oh well...

oops...anyway..my point being...if it wears that easily WTF are they thinking charging that much $$ for that...even with out premature wear that still is a rediculous price...for both...!!sorry left that part out do to my venting above...

Too damn expensive. But, my humble opinion, too much red. Just the red handbrake alone was pushing it in my view.

I want both the shift **** and brake handle in red/black. I think it goes quite nicely with the red/black interior already. Then again, I have a 10th Anniversary Edition Miata where everything is blue... blue/black steering wheel, blue/black shifter, blue seude/black leather seats, blue carpeting, blue boot cover. So I am partial to matching interior pieces

The shifter **** price is steep! If, like me, you ARE considering paying that much for a red shift **** (and with the wear problem discussed above, I assume we ALL will eventually) for a little more money you can get the LIGHTED red shift **** from canzoomer. Even steeper at ~$225, but since it is lighted, perhaps it has a different clear protective top that won't allow it to wear as quickly as the stock shifter.

Does anyone have one of the lighted shifters yet who can comment on the design differences?

I have one on order, so I guess I'll find out soon enough. At the very least I'll still have the original shift **** to put back on when resale time comes along.

Which of these shift ***** do you like?

I'm considering changing out the stock 6spd shift **** with an aftermarket one, I don't really like the shape of the stock one but I'll miss the cool rotor symbol on it.

Which of these Momo ***** do you guys like better :

Combat Evo

Combat Evo Airmetal

F16 Evo

F16 Evo Carbon

gotta be the red or airmetal combat evo. those F16 ones are too weird. the airmetal matches the foot pedals; the red matches the seat. I'd have to see it in the car to choose. If the red color isn't a perfect match with the seats then go with the metal.

Although I like the stock best, to answer your question, I like the f16s. Never seen those before, and I like that "skeletonized" cut-out. Probably make great bottle openers, too. :D

drinks inside the 8?!!!?!?

you must be out of your mind... :D

i agree with 8 wannabe, the airmetal would match the pedals... and if you have the red interior the red combat would look nice.
