Repainting my 8

How much would it cost normally to get a car repainted?? Right now it's Velocity Red but it has scratches and chips everywhere. So I'm thinking of repainting it a different color. Like white... How much would that run me?

To get a car properly painted a different colour is very expensive, sell it and buy a white one.

Only about $6000. A fellow Rx8 member got is paint some LEXUS White Pearl that from an angle changed Blue-ish sparkly and **** (seen the color in person) and he paid like around $6000 or something like that.

Remember. That's the cost of a turbo setup. Or alot of carbon fiber.

I would go with what Chad said.. sell your car.. buy a white one. Its gonna be about the same Loss.($$$) but then again.. paying out of your pocket you get to keep your 8 and pick a custom color.

I believe the 8 owner that painted his car was from Austrailia.

Keep in mind, a cheap job will leave seams, under the hood, trunk, Door jams, ect, and will make your car look cheap. I recommend, If you really like the white, to incorporate a white colour wih your red, much cheaper and looks better overall. Like a two tone, y'know?
I have seen alot of disasters doing the colour change without stripping the whole car naked.

Yea dood i agree with chad as well, dont take any sort of cheap root, if your sure this is what you want then get it done right or as he recommended, sell it and buy the white one. I have a 2005 white water pearl and i absolutly love it! I think it is the best color for an 8

Remember that to do it right when switching colors they have to do the engine bay and a number of other 'hidden' areas, so it gets quite costly. You can of course go the cheaper exterior-only route, but that will hurt resale. Then again if you plan to keep it a long time, and as our resale value is already pretty low, ....

^ Yes, it is certainly less expensive to re-paint in your original color as there's no need to do the engine bay. A quality job is $3-5K.

If only the front end needs repainting due to stone chips etc. that would be considerably less.

Wrap it in vinyl and call it a day. It is going to cost you more than $2000 though.
