Renesis badge on rear end? (Updated with install pix on pg. 2)

So I finally picked up a white RX8 a couple weeks ago and came up with an idea to clean up the rear end a bit.

Taking off both the RX8 and Mazda badges would have been ideal for me, but seeing how there would be 3 holes where the Mazda emblem is, I came up with this idea.

What do you guys think about this option. This is just a photoshop job of some letters I can buy online. The letters are 3/4" high. Let me know what you think.

It's a lot cheaper to go this route than having a bodyshop do a complete debadge.

that's a pretty good idea!

I'm actually experiencing that problem right now... Having the option of it saying Renesis over Mazda I think is worth it...

I'm planning to order it from a web, http://www.badgeyourride.com

It should cost $18 plus shipping.

Once I get the lettering, I have to map out the holes and space out the letter accordingly. I'll post pics once the deed is done.

That is great. I would want to see if the rx-8 would cover the holes where the mazda badge is, then lettering over the mazda name. I want my rx-8 badge centered on my rear.(insert funny joke here) and the renesis idea is perfect

The letters have been ordered. $25 shipped. Hopefully I will get them from FedEx by the end of the week. I'll keep you guys posted on how it turns out.

I thought the idea of putting RENESIS on the rear might be a little cheezy, but everyone seems to think it's a good alternative to the Mazda badge.

A quick rule of thumb with lettering... if the letters are slanted in one direction you would want renesis on the right side not the left in order to give the impression of it running off the edge of the trunk!!(I understand you have holes to cover) Move it to the right and you have my approval!

I understand what you are saying about the slanted lettering. There was another company with regular letters, but the font was not so nice. I agree that it would look better if the lettering was on the right side of the trunk, but it's those damn holes. Covering them up is the .....whole point....hahaha.

My original idea was to make a custom badge that was rectangular and then inside the box would be in black and red ebossed lettering saying "ROTORHEAD". That route seemed too complicated and expensive. Custom badges of this magnitude would have been $400.

Okay. I finally had a chance to install the RENESIS letters I ordered a week ago.

The RX-8 lettering came off very easily with some fishing wire. That's how all emblems should be put on cars. The MAZDA emblem was easy to take off but it left 3 HUGE holes. I'm talking HUGE! I was expecting little holes for the three posts that most people had discussed, but these were not ordinary holes. The MAZDA emblem did not have any double stick tape. Just these black pop in pieces.

I scanned in the letters and scanned a tracing of the holes to my computer. I juxstaposed the letters over the holes to make sure the spacing would be even. It took me a while, to space the letters somewhat evenly. Those huge holes made the job very difficult. I printed out the results, laid it over the trunk and the rest was very easy.

Here's how it turned out. I'm pleased with the results. (Sorry about the poor quality pictures from the camera phone. I don't know where I put my digital camera.)

I did the same. Well almost haven't installed it on the 8 yet.

Someone from rx8club gave me a cad file and a link to get them burned from ABS plastic. I got 2 sets made, the RENISIS and rotary emblems. The rotary emblems replace the OEM one. They are black but can be painted any color you want.

if anyone wants to see pics I can post them up.
