unless you want to put some kind of r3t@rded wheel offset on then you can fit big wheels and tires under them easily. I posted a pic of my car recently with 18" x 10.5" +43 wheels and 295/30-18 Hoosier race tires. Stock rear fender only needs the lip extension trimmed or rolled flat for them to fit. So I'd expect a 315 tire to fit under those flares with appropriate wheel offset.

If you're tracking a N\A rx8 anything more than 245 semislicks is overkill. However sticking the wheels further out may be beneficial under some circumstances. That's why wider fenders may be needed. I reckon Rev2 tracks his car.

At the moment i'm running a 255, but i will be going to a 275, and the wheel offset i'll have is quite aggressive. Also, the laws here in spain dictate that any part of the body cannot protrude further than the wheel arches, so the idea is to get them as far out as possible in order to run a large front diffuser and wing.

making the track wider by increasing wheel offset is an often misapplied theory that is generally not true due to not taking in other aspects of suspension design such as scrub radius, bump steer, etc.

if you want a wider track that actually works properly it needs to be designed that way from the start, there is no free lunch

it's now a 415 hp 20B NA engine ...

they just seem a lot wider. If you look at my pic above, on the front edge of the fender you can see a very dramatic curve where the fender runs into the sideskirt, where as on twiz's you don't see such a dramatic curve, it looks almost straight.

Hey Twiz, do you by any chance have any more pics from the front and rear angles of the car?
my bad, just saw this.

i took the pictures as a last minute thing in the middle of the night so i tried my best with the poor iphone lighting i had.

ill see if i can take better ones tomorrow

Just got word back from Panspeed, and i suspected right. The fenders on there yellow timeattack car are not available to the public. They are extra wide ones made only for their demo car.

Well.........that's a whole other ball game. I'm sure for what Panspeed would probably be asking you could have one made by a decent body shop.

Sorry to hear that. Any OE fender modification being done to fit the Panspeed fenders? If so can you take pics?

Not sure if I can, since I will either be at work or at school, but normally they would align it with the rear quarter panel, drill the appropriate holes the. Cut away excess metal/plastic 1" below those mounting holes. And of course weld the inner and outer skins together and apply a coat of primer to exposed metal to prevent rust.

I installed flares on my miata myself... So I am not really worried if a shop is doing it.

Those look a lot wider than a 10mm increase. Can we get some comparison measurements vs OE?

Edit: saw your pic on the other page. What tire/wheel/offset size is that?

BTW it really POd me to have missed the FS ad by a couple of minutes.

.

Well my rear is rolled and pulled so I couldn't get a comparison

Wheels : 18x8.5 +20
Tires : 245/45/18

I'm rubbing a little bit though so I'm going to shave the inner lip. But that is only when I enter driveways at an angle

My 18 x 10.5 +43 outer wheel lip should be just a tick further out than yours. With shaved fender lips an 11" wheel with the right offset should fit

yup, im planning on upgrading to rpf1 18x10.5 +35

unsure of the tire size as of yet. but i will most likely mount the existing 245/40s until i need to replace them. i just bought them last year.

i have already shaved half of the inner lip. i think it was around 1.5in. surprisingly very flexible.

IIRC there was a decent discussion on ITBs and I believe someone tried it. No performance gain and was a spendy experiment for engine bling.
