Just wondering if anyone besides me has had the optional trim installed around the front grill of their RX-8? I took mine to the Mazda dealership where I purchased the car (5 hrs away..in Myrtle Beach, SC)...and had the trim installed 2 weeks ago Friday. It looked great. The next day (Saturday) I noticed that the adhesive was not holding...that the trim was coming loose from the car! I took it back to the dealership, but the service dept was closed. I showed the problem to a salesman, who told me to take it to my local dealership upon my return home. I did that on Monday, leaving the car there for 3 hrs. They didnt know what to do. They asked if the part was actually a Mazda part. I said that I guess so since I had the work done at Mazda...and it was a Mazda accessory. They said that they couldnt get it to fit properly. They ended up....removing the upper "lip" of the trim. I called the dealership who installed the piece and they said that maybe it's warped. They've ordered me another entire trim set ...that I am going to have them install when I'm back in Myrtle Beach...in a few weeks. This is very frustrating since the piece was very expensive! Can anyone else tell me if they have had this piece installed...and if so, does it fit properly?

I just saw the trim ring advertised the other day...wasn't impressed by it. I felt it made the car look 'stuffy'...maybe not the right word. uhhhh...too much like a Lincoln Continental wanna-be.

Anyway, I am glad you liked it...sounds like just a faulty installation. My dealer REALLY dislikes adding on things like that because of problems they have had in the past with other accents.

How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking?

The service mgr sold me the piece at his cost. So, with installation it was like...$275. I believe that the piece alone retails for more than that. It really did look cool. After I have it redone, I'll take some pics and post one.
