Also, have you thought about replacing the front main grille with some steel/aluminium mesh. This way it would match the look of your other screens. And it would be way better than the plastic stuff we have at the moment.
You could then sell them as a complete front grille set!

Did I mention this would look really cool too.

Well, um, YES. I did it. And, well, ummm, that is in the works as we speak. I am awaiting some mold materials to enable me to complete the frame work of this. The most difficult thing to do is to create something that will take the place of the lower part of the OEM grill because this is the part that supports the stock and aero package front air dams. Without the OEM grille, it sags. But, with the addition of a few items, it won't.

Here is a couple of pictures to whet your whistle. These are pics of the fitting of the test grille that I have since coated black. I am in the process of acquiring some new grille material that is .081 thick where as this material is that is pictured is .051 and it is very thick as it is, the new material is even thicker and would look even better. Remember, these are test fitting photos of the material in an uncoated black state. I have been waiting for this weekend to take some pics of the prototype with everything installed. I think I have the front end covered now. :D

Oh yeah and I do not care what other manufacturers say about how well their's covers or what size their holes are and that they will not let anything 1/4" or smaller though, I truly believe that anything 1/3" or smaller will not do any real damage to the AC Condensor unless it is a balistic projectile. That 1/3" is the size opening of the aluminum material I use for the AC Condensor grille and the Prototype pictured. The Oil Cooler grills have an even smaller opening which is approximately 1/4". We do offer the AC Condensor grill in a smaller opening identical to the Oil Cooler grills if desired. Just click my signature to see what we are currently offering.

I hit a large plastic thing dropped on the freeway in front of me, tonight. No way to avoid it, believe me I tried, but didn't want to chance taking out any cars behind or around me, so I decided to "eat" the guy's "dropping". MFnCarelessSoB Took out my right foglamp (still lights up tho') and dislodged part of the wheel well in front of the tire. Mercifully, the oil cooler wasn't leaking and was able to get her home with only having to tie up the plastic wheel well shroud. (Someone up their likes me!)

I guess I'll "have" to make the repair using the MazdaSpeed part. Do you have or are you going to make the grilles for the MS air dam? Due to the extra large inlets on that piece, do you think I should go with your grilles? Would an even larger and heftier size look more appropriate, but then weight might become an issue? That front piece has some huge openings. Maybe the grilles you have, but recessed way into the "background" so they're hardly noticeable?

P.S. If the object had been metal, your grilles probably wouldn't have helped, but maybe the strakes, if they were REALLY well mounted. With all the expense of the MS dam, I'd almost want some rebar up front, but hey, I've dodged bouncing tires on the LA freeways (twice!) and then you're just thinking, "Please don't let it come inside the car!!!). Hmm, then there was the rockslide up by Yosemite, last month. Yeah, I think I'll just go with defendng against those nasty pebbles that bounce out of the gravel carriers and continue to depend on dumb luck for the other, less frequent, hazards.

P.P.S. Any opinon on the MS knockoffs vs the real thing? Guess my forum search is just beginning

Yes, opinion on the MS vs. knockoffs...the jury is in, either you go with the real thing or a VERY reputable company such as aeroworks. However, I have heard someone is soon to come out with a polyurethane copy of the MS if they already haven't. I even remember visiting their site. I suggest you look through this section of the forum, I do believe it is there.

It appears that there is some sort of screening in the MS kits. Not sure what it is exactly but...I have had a few problems with their design. I am not particularly fond of it because I feel they left the front end too gaping. That is why I have a front end ordered so that I can see about a few "changes" as in add-ons that I can look into. Whatever we would create would be something that would be able to be installed after installation of the original.

The fog light strakes would most likely have deflected something large but not have totally stopped it.

I used the same material that I use for the AC Grill, it is expanded aluminum that I have coated with a black synthetic rubber. This opens up the air flow to the upper area of the engine compartment and to help even more, I removed the thin plastic piece at the front of the area surrounding the hood latch.

Here is a pic of what this looks like on my car. ( I will be posting better pics later)
The second pic is of the material next to the OEM for comparison.
The third pic is of the white styrofoam bumper energy absorption piece that I painted black to hide. This needs to be painted as it is stark white behind that bumper cover.
