they were the old 194's that were on the first page before the new ones the difference is the ribbed metal in the picture mine didnt have that on them it was just a chip going up to a round table thing with the 4 leds on it

they do make good products my 6k xenons for my low beams my 6k fog lights and my tails are holding up very nicely it was just these i had a problem with

im using the ones that aipex says on the first post for his parking lights that says their discontinued.... so ill just replace them with the new ones and hopefully not have as much of a problem if those go ill just put regualr bulbs back in

 

Well, I'm running the older 4 high power 194 bulbs in the maps and doors, but I tested the new "retina burners" before installing them in my parking lights and they will work in both spots also.

These are all 6000K white, the same (or at least similar) bulbs are available in other colors as well.

 

Yeah, LEDs do fail occationally. The 4 high power bulbs that you are talking about have been bullet-proof for me though. Had them in the parking lights for over a year, when I upgraded to the new "retina burners" (with the heat sink) I moved them to my map lights and they are still burning strong. Oh, I have a second pair of these in my trunk and rear license plate, also with no problems.

Also, how easy is it to install the LED Strips from V-LEDS? I have Rotary Rasp Footwell Lights, but they don't work so I am thinking about trying V-LEDS LED Strips.

 

the link you posted are for 194s which you would put into the parking lights, not the fogs.

but yes if you get the fog light LED's you do not need an HID kit. HID kit is only if you are installing HIDs

 

Crap lol. Oh well, at least I wanna change my Parking Lights also so no harm done there.

Again, please read the very first post of this thread for links for bulbs for all locations. Our HID headlights use D2S bulbs, not H11.

That's kind of a big bulb, I'm not sure if there is room for it. I wouldn't do it without a test fit. This one is only $1 more, is 5000K and uses the high power LEDs (allowing it to be smaller). I'd go with that one.

How about the LED Strips from V-LEDS, are they easy to install? My footwell lights aren't working so I've been thinking about switching to V-LEDS LED Strips, depending on how easy they are to install.

Nah it's only on the kits. I asked that question on V-LEDS facebook page and they told me it was just on the Kits, but they may have changed it in the past couple days.

I which it was on the bulbs though, I'd order the my Foglight Bulbs now.

 

If you want HID fogs, then you need a kit. LED fogs are just bulbs.

 

The fogs are another one of those PITA to change bulbs. I've had Hoen USA xeon-match bulbs for 2 years now and they match the headlights very well.

no but you have to do the diy to remove the reflector ^^^ which is extremely simple

 

LED and HID are completely different things. V-LEDS just happens to sell both.

HIDs (also refered to as Xenon because of the gas in the bulb) are like your headlights, they are glass bulbs, they are very bright (bright enough to drive by), they require a ballast to create an arc (basically, a mini-lighting bolt) when the bulb first fires up. Your headlights are HID from the factory, so the ballasts are built in. You can swap your headlight bulb to a different color and all you need is an HID bulb (D2S) because your car already has the ballast. You can also change your foglights to HID. In this case you would need to buy the whole kit because the stock fogs are regular halogen bulbs and don't have ballasts.

LEDs are completely different technology. They are basically a bunch of tiny diodes in an array with a base that matches whichever bulb type you are replacing. The aren't that bright (they may look bright, but there is no way you could replace your headlights with them... you wouldn't be able to see a thing at night). LED "bulbs" are direct drop in replacements. There is no such thing as an LED "kit" as no LED bulb needs a ballast or any other special equipment to run (although some applications, like turn signals, require load resistors so your car doesn't think a bulb is out.)

That clears everything up for me thank you. V-LEDS just has "HID" in the title for those Fog Light bulbs so that is what confused me.

 

Yeah, I wish they wouldn't market them that way, it can be confusing if you aren't well versed in this lighting stuff. What they mean by that is that they match HID 6000K color, not that they are HID bulbs.
