MS front bumper install impressions
Installed the MS front bumper yesterday. Overall the process went much quicker and easier than the rear wing or side skirts since no drilling was involved.
Suggestions:
1. If you're replacing the front bumper, it's a great time to change to clear side lights as well.
2. There is a locking tab just in front of the side marker lights. Pull the sides away far enough and they will pop out.
3. Unless you have a black car, the metal bumper may be visible below the center grill's top plastic strip. If that's the case use flat black paint.
4. When installing, hook bumper on center retaining pin first. Then push bumper under the headlights and lock the rearmost slot over the side marker tab. Make sure the locking tab mentioned previously is under the body panel above it and give it one sharp pound with your fist to lock it in place.
Observations:
1. The MS front bumper has a grill to keep debris away from the water radiator. On the stock bumper the bottom inlet doesn't have any protection. In theory it's possible a plastic bag could get sucked into that opening and due to the car's design, there's no place for it to exit. It will remain trapped covering part of the radiator.
2. The MS front bumper on stock springs sits 5.25" above ground. The MS side skirts sit 5" above ground. This barely clears the guide rail at my local car wash. Once the JIC coilovers are installed I'll have to wash to car by hand only.

Sort of. It's a hand wash with automatic rinsing. Perfectly safe for your car's finish.

Is there anything I can post that hasn't already been seen before? I've already posted pictures of the Pikachu graphic. The complete MS body kit has been posted multiple times. The JIC coilovers have been featured as well. Perhaps the only thing I have on order that hasn't been posted is the RB exhaust.
I'd like to wait until all the parts are installed (mid-April, honest!) before posting pictures. But if there's enough interest I can post some interim pictures before then.

The only custom work was a passenger-side air duct for the oil cooler. It's a neat bit of work but totally unimpressive to look at. And if Mazda actually makes it for sale in the US, it's (almost) a wasted effort.

.
I took my truck to a car wash once. I ended up with 2 huge (though shallow) scratches and an 8 inch dent.
Never again. I always wash my cars by hand. 5gal bucket, some good car soap, a microfiber mitt, and one big microfiber drying towel.
Ya get to be intimate with your car, and the shine is twice as nice, and rx8 times more satisfying.
