^ ya no kidding. and actually i found a fairly nice urethane front bumper locally for $250.
and I got a body shop to fix it up pretty good they said, and they'll do that custom paint too for just a little extra. Plus this urethane front bumper has good lines that go straight into the grill so hopefully that will all turn out pretty good. Should be about 2 wks till it's all finished...i'll def. post pics on this thread when it's done

If he claims they swooped out in front of him and slammed on their brakes, then the insurance company will claim that HE (owner of the RX8) failed to control his vehicle and could be at fault. The auto industry is fucked up like that.
Good luck with repairs. I wouldn't know what to do if something happened to my RX8

^^ ya that's why I'm not going to let insurance know about it. plus my rates will continue to decrease
And to answer this question, EXTREME DIMENSIONS.
I know this company definitely makes the best front bumpers with the greatest fitment and everything! jk i know they're terrible, but I bought it locally and the body shop I bought it from said they'd make it look great, that they'd spend hours and hours making it fit, and then they'd do that two-tone paint job for just $180. Add my hood's paint job for another $180, and the bumper itself for $250. So I'm dropping $610 to get a new urethane bumper, paint, installed perfectly, grills painted, headlights unsmoked so that they're legal, and my hood two-tone painted as well all for $610. I think that's pretty good.

Nonetheless with a $100 deductible, I would have let insurance handle it, at the same time. for only 600... if you have it, handling it yourself makes sense too...

610 is not bad at all for a complete front end with good fitment and custom paint. Good luck with it!

if you had a higher ded I would say just buy a new bumper, but a low ded like that then this is what you HAVE INSURANCE FOR!!!!!!!!!! USE IT!!!!!!!! You dont have alot of time to file police report and claim. You might want to check into how long your insurance company will wait for you to submit a claim from time of accident.

^^ lol yeah idk what QFT means either. But I think he was just saying that in Austin, it would be almost impossible to get that work done for less than $1200...that I'm getting lucky by having it done in San Antonio.

Ya maybe, but it's too late now. Plus my insurance rate will continue to decrease because I'll be going a longer stretch of time without a claim...

Repaired front!
Well my new front bumper and paint job are complete!
Pics are attached!
Lmk what you guys think...and I'm probably gonna continue that two-tone job all the way up and over the roof and on the borders of the doors, etc.

Good grief! Why the hostilities? First off, I'm agreeing with mscamp02 that it was a good price and secondly, here in Austin, they'd have easily charged $1200-$1500 for that repair... QFT=Quoted For Truth! That is the purpose of my post. Lighten up.

I'm not so sure about that... I guess it depends on the insurance company. I used to have Travelers Insurance for years..between 2002 and 2005, I was rear-end twice and had another driver run a red light and strike me.. In all cases, the other driver was not insured. My un/under covered it.. My insurance rates certainly increased by 6% those years until eventually I had to change. I nor my wife had had any other incidents reports nor citations. Of course I called and complained but was simply told it was "an across the board State wide increase". My BS meter went up since I have several friends that also had Travelers.. they didn't have any increases. But who knows? I certainly don't.
