Hit-and-Runs...gotta love 'em
Wow so some truck decided to just pull out into my lane today...I did the best I could to avoid him, but couldn't. I then pulled up next to him after the incident and they started shaking their fists and flickin me off (2 guys about 300 lbs. each), so obviously they didn't want to pull over and exchange insurance information...and I'm not gonna take them on either lol. I'm just 160 lbs, 6 ft tall. I also forgot to get their license plate number
And ya in the pics it's very dirty cuz it just rained here, and the road I drove on was all muddy and filled with unavoidable puddles...
Anyways, here's the ALL NEW look of my front bumper:

(1) ANY kind of accident where the front bumper is damaged, is almost impossible for the insurance company to believe it was not your fault
(2) I was once told by a cop that if my front bumper is ever damaged, they will say it is my fault...maybe the insurance companies are different, but I doubt it
(3) No witnesses = no convincing for the cops
(4) If the insurance thinks it was in fact MY FAULT for the accident, then I will have to pay for a new front bumper, and on top of that my insurance will rise.
So I'm not sure I want to take that risk lol
But I'm really just venting by posting these pics on here...and trying to see if anyone has an aftermarket front bumper they want to sell too!
Thanks...

You are wrong about what insurance companies and the police will believe when it comes to hit and run. I used to own an Audi A4 and it was hit and run a few times and I never had an issue with the police or insurance company. Just report it and then make your claim.

I zoom therefore I am.
it's easy to explain.. they swooped in front of you.. slammed on their brakes. You tried to stop but couldnt. You tried to catch up to them but they flipped you off and sped off. that is hit and run and that makes it zero percent your fault.

He's as bad as Can
One thing to consider, many insurance companies give you a discount for not making ANY type of claim in a certain period of time. By making a claim ( even one that is not your fault ) you can lose that discount and the end result will be higher Ins. This happened to my wife.

I had my front bumper damaged and was not my fault. some woman in a parking lot decided to put her car in reverse and step on it. seems like the police could not make to much hassle since you were not the one running away, i would report it myself.
hope everything works out the way you want it to any way you decide to handle it.

^^^true... so i'm still not sure what to do...cuz in the long run if my insurance discount would have been just $25/month, after just 2 years, $600 total of discounts for not reporting this one accident pays for the damage in itself :/

Yes every time!! One time I was parked on the side of the road and someone took a corner too quickly and swiped the front of my car. Another time someone backed out of a parking space at an apartment complex and hit my front bumper. And yet another time someone on the freeway changed lanes without looking and hit my front end!

Dude, I have had USAA for 18 years. They are mint. I had front bumper damage from someone pulling in front of me (DAMN YOU CABBIE!!) No fault was assigned to either of us. I went in for an estimate, desided to pay for it myself (cost was close to deductable), canceled claim, no increase in rates.

IMHO, that is too low of a deductable. To me, damage under $500-1000 is operating expences. I have ins. in case someone sues me, or I hurt them or I total the car or come close to it. You could save a bundle moving the deductable up. I think I pay in the $600 range per six months for three cars. That is with high coverage, too. But this is not about your coverage.
Just talk to them. Be honest and forthright. USAA is not going to screw you. Are you active mil? In any case, go get the estimate. You can cancel it.
