I think, the lack of pictures and updates is what hasn't gotten people interested. I'm sure more people would of interested if they saw the finished products.. (CF, CF Inside & Out, and Fiberglass) I think, you should open up a new thread in the RX-8 Multimedia/Photo Gallery with some new close-up pictures of the finished products.
I'm interested but bad unfortunately really bad timing. The roof to my house is going to be replaced as soon as there is a break in the weather. Any chance to purchase at a later date?
hey brgreen, so do the prices differ from cf inside only/outside only/ full cf trunks?
or is it set 450 whether you want it cf inside only, outside only, or full cf?
if u cant decide prices b/c its not an approved gb yet then np. just can u lemme know if there is a price difference between the 3 options?
oh, and it 250 for fiberglass right??

its 475 for cf inside/outside only. 325 for fiberglass. the reason being that cf on both sides are more expensive is that cf are used for both sides. this trunk is still cf overlay on top of fiberglass, just like all cf trunks offered for the rx8. so if you dont want cf showing on your car to keep that clean one color look, but still like to have cf. then you can go for cf underneath, and paint the fiberglass portion outside. D_J will be down here friday to pick up his double side cf, ill snap some pictures to help you guys understand it better.
alright that cleared some things up, thx brgreen8
ok this would be my DREAM trunk can u lemme know if this is possible?
fiberglass trunk with cf on inside.
the only difference would be a bright red cf instead of the standard grey/black? i know if the shop would do this it would be a bit more cash cuz of a special order or w/e. but if this is even feesible could you let me know?? that would be SO awesome if i could get that. ok but anyway, thanks for the info on pricing.
if this isn't possible np i was just curious.
for reference: red cf like this???

i can ask but i doubt it..... the only material they use is the normal 1x1 pattern grey/black cf. i believe you can ask a bodyshop to paint it red and keep the cf weave pattern? bigO was talking about doing that.
its all a matter of few ounces? if you want to know exactly how many ounces i can ask them to weight it. stock trunk weights around 7 pounds( they didnt measure mine because i had the mint blue wing and dynamat on my trunk, so mine was heavy as crap) i read that the rx8 trunk is 7 pounds off another member measuring his in a very old thread. perhap i can ask D_J to measure his when he comes down here friday to pick up his double side cf.
and was extremely easy to chip
.
you dont really have to go to the trouble of weighing all the trunks just for a few ounces. i was just trying to see if there was any advantage in getting the all cf version as opposed to cf on the outside only. if the weight difference is as negligible as you say then there really is no point in shelling out the extra two hundred bucks (from my perspective anyway).
lookin foreward to those pics though..

my apologies about the delay... the pics are posted on the link provided below:
mastergrade RX8 cf trunk
I'm pretty satisfied with the product, craftsmanship is excellent and their customer service is outstanding! I even got a tour of their work area where everything is fabricated, I saw their line-up of quality cf parts for 350Z's and S2000's. And for those of you in the market for a vented cf hood, I just donated my stock hood so they can get started on producing their version of the RX8 hood. I was told that it would be about a month or so before they finish and release the hood... there's still time to contact mastergrade if you have any suggestions on how you want the hood, I'm sure they will consider all inputs.
Big thanks to Mike (BRGREEN8) for doing all the legwork to make this possible.
