Fender Strakes / Emblems Removal??

I am about to Order Fender Strakes . I reviewed the Thread on Installation It states that I have to use an adhesive to attached them to the vehicle.

If I decide I would like to remove them how would I do so.. Would any of the underneath paint be damage?

I would also like to remove all the Mazda Emblems from the RX8 front and back. How would I remove them without damaging the paint?

Thanks

J

The strakes come of easily..I had to take one side off to paint .....I just used a thin bladed knife...and went slow, with the blade tipped toward the strake. need new tape to re-install.

Definitely not easy enough to try and steal them though :D You need to remove the fender wells to push them off......

Those adhesives of the strakes come right off by heating it up and then using something small to pull it off. It wont damage the paint because it is 3M adhesive. sticks nice and thats all it does.
The emblems (mazda and fly mazda) both have holes on them. u can take them off without ruining the paint by heat up also, but youngpit is right. There are holes on the back of those.

3m tape, heat it up w/ hair dryer. Peel slowly. Good luck!!

oh come on...buy new tape, don't be cheap with your 8. your 8 is my 8, my 8 is your 8, and i'll hate you for ever if you reuse 20 cent tape.

You can successfully remove the fender strakes w/o damaging the paint. If you remove the mazda emblems you will leave holes on your car.

i want to take off my strakes and sell them. i hate the way they look. and i want to get the alum fender vents anyway. i would love to take the emblems off...but i guess there is body work to be done to fill the holes. so the strakes are held on by 3m tape? i saw another thread and it looked like they just went thru the fender vents...????

Mine are screwed on through to the vents, then they also came with 3m tape, but I haven't used the tape yet as I don't know if I will leave them on or not. I guess it depends who's strakes they are, but most will be tape. Make sure they don't have screws of you are going to have to loosen them up first.

I assume you know how to get the vents out, or is it too late?
